Guest Post – Glossybox Unboxing December 2016

Hello my lovelies!

In this series, I will be sharing with you the gorgeous goodies from my Glossybox subscription boxes, with my honest opinion of the products received. If you want to know what Glossybox is all about, you can read my last unboxing blog here.

What’s in the Box?

So this month, subscribers had a choice between either a Sugar or Spice box – I went with Spice. We got extra special treats this month based around which look we wanted to achieve most this festive season, with either a nude or a plum lipstick from MDM Flow. We got 5 beauty treats, 4 which were full-sized. So without further ado, let’s take a peek!

Kapow! Look at all that gorgeousness! Let’s dive in!

Revlon Nail Enamel

Everyone loves a good nail polish, and this month’s bang on trend plum red enamel named Valentine did not disappoint! My favorite nail polishes in order are Sally Hansen, Revlon, and Barry M. The Revlon colours deliver gorgeous smooth, chip-resistant colour to nails. With ShadeLock™ Technology for fade-resistant wear. Mine lasted on my nails without a top coat for 9 days without chipping, which is pretty impressive, considering it went through 3 runs, 4 gym sessions, 2 swimming sessions, and all the usual wear and tear doing a 9-5 office job. A big hit, and a colour I will definitely use again, and again, and again, and well you get the picture.

Collection Cosmetics Define & Perfect Eyebrow Powder

Now, I have a confession to make, I have terrible eyebrows. Yes, I put my hands up and admit it. I neglected them in high school, I plucked them to oblivion, and I’ve been paying for it ever since. Why oh why didn’t I listen to my mum and just leave them alone?! Thankfully, we now have loads of options for filling in and defining our brows these days, however badly we have treated them in the past. I am a huge fan of the fuller brow, so products like these, are great if you are on a budget (and got talked into spending £40 on face cream in Boots and have zero money left). The loose powder formula containing fibre particles to add volume to the brows. I especially love the fine-tipped sponge applicator for a precise application. An absolute must have for those of us who need to put a little ka-pow back into our brows!

1. Using the applicator, brush delicately over areas which need filling in and volumising
2. Use fine brush strokes to create natural-looking hairs on the brows
3. Set the brows in place with a clear brow gel of your choice!

essence light up your face luminizer palette

Ugh. I love me a good highlighter. You know what it ever better than a gorgeous matte highlighter? A trio of matte and shimmer highlighters in my glossybox!

This pallette comes with three highlight shades to help you achieve a flawless sun-kissed glow in the cold December months. You can apply them individually, or in combination on the cheekbones, bridge of the nose or below the lips, these three highlighter powders with light-reflecting pigments accentuate the features with a light pearl, shimmer or golden glow finish.Even better, Essence are a cruelty free brand, and easy on the purse strings! I did try to swatch these, but the camera does the end result no justice. Less glowing like a glazed donut (which is a look I also love, highlighter is my thing), more a subtle healthy glow.

Lipcote Lipstick Sealer

Before there was 1,000 shades of matte liquid lipsticks, Lipcote was the number one lip insurance. I have kept it in my (one of far too many) make up bags, because it’s a tried, trusted and favorite secret weapons, and unlike may liquid lipsticks, it doesn’t dry out your pout. The essential lipstick accessory; transparent, quick drying Lipcote is specially formulated with natural extracts to stop your lipstick feathering, fading or transferring. I tried it out with my favorite red lipsticks one day and I only needed to top up once at around 3pm, and it lasted through a lunch time run! In comparison, I find that although my Lime Crime Velvetines matte lips need to be touched up a couple of times through the day. It’s so easy to use – apply your lipstick, blot and then apply. The tingling is totally normal. (note, the tingling only lasts about 10 seconds, if you find it lasts any longer, or your lips start to swell or go numb, seek medical advice) I absolutely would recommend Lipcote throughout the year, not just for party season. Weddings, girl’s nights out, evening dos, and those days when you want to rock a bad ass lippie but you don’t want to worry about it fading. Lipcote is for life, not just December!

MDMflow Lipstick

And here we are, the main event of the box this month. Meet my new beautiful MDMFlow lipstick, in the shade Vamp. I love this lipstick. Its matte, which is my favorite finish, it has a creamy butter-like consistency, and has some impressive staying power, with or without lipcote. The only negative I had is that I needed 2 coats of the stuff to get my desired shade of vampy plumyness. But all in all, it compliments my snow-white complexion, it stays on for hours. top marks. The packaging is gorgeous, it’s cruelty free kisses, and contains the best natural ingredients for your lips.

So that’s it from me for another box and another year with Glossybox! If you are looking for a great Christmas gift, why not give the gift of glossy? You can gift a 1,3,6, or 12 month subscription, or maybe just treat yourself ?
