I Heart Makeup 24k Gold Eyeshadow Palette | Review and Swatches

Let’s be honest here, I had absolutely no idea this eyeshadow palette was even being released. I happened to stumble upon it on its release day whilst browsing the TAM Beauty website (when I really should’ve been doing something else!). I have to say that it really was a pleasant surprise though! You already know I’m a huge fan of the I Heart Makeup Chocolate Bar palettes and have built up a lovely collection of them – I just had to add this one to it!

As usual, the packaging is STUNNING. I love the pure gold on this one, it’s so shiny! Inside you get a big mirror and 16 eyeshadows. There are six gorgeous mattes and ten beautiful shimmers. The shades range in warm undertones of peach, yellow and bronze which partner perfectly with golds.

I would say that this is a pretty subtle palette colour wise. These are great shades for every day wear. The colours are buildable. Some appear patchy at first, as you can see in the swatches and this is mostly the matte shades.

Obsession Obsessive Eyes Eyeshadow Palette | Review and Swatches

I posted on Sunday about the new releases from Obsession and in particular the Matte Naked Lip Kit in the shade Strip Tease. Today it’s all about this glorious eyeshadow palette and trust me, you’ll want to hang around for the swatches.

The Obsession Obsessive Eyes Eyeshadow Palette comes in a really cool, dark midnight marble printed tin and is actually a pretty decent size. Inside is a HUGE mirror and 24 beautifully complimentary eyeshadows. The top row are the mattes, the bottom row the shimmers, merged and baked shades. I love the layout of the eyeshadows – sleek, slim-lined pans each with a trendy name printed below it. Yep, I just said trendy (I’m 31 next month, give me a break!).

There are plenty of colours here to create dramatic warm toned looks and the shimmers are pretty enough to wear alone during the day. You literally don’t need another eyeshadow palette when you have this one. There are awesome base setting colours, transition and gradient shades, smokey eye shadows and inner corner glows. The possibilities are endless with this one! Does it not just get you excited? Or is that just me?

To swatch, I used my finger and ran it up and down the pan once and then swatched down my arm. I did the matte shades on the top row first, in natural light.

The mattes were really interesting to swatch actually. I began with the neutral, light shades and wasn’t really blown away by what I was seeing but as the swatching went on, the colours got more intense, more buttery and more beautiful! I was particularly amazed by the shade ‘Rebound’ – a beautiful cherry red which had some of the best pigment I’ve seen in an eyeshadow of that colour.

I next swatched the shimmers and baked eyeshadows in the same way.

I had to swatch them six shades at a time because well, I couldn’t believe how gorgeous each eyeshadow was in its own right. Not one of them was a let down or disappointment. Each one packed a punch and just looked stunning. Each one pairs with at least one matte (usually the one above it in the palette) so it is super simple to create a quick eye look.

I’m sure you can tell from what I’ve written above that I already absolutely adore this palette. I can tell it’s going to be a staple in my makeup artist kit as it gives me everything I need in an eyeshadow palette. I may need to buy a second as a back up!

This palette is also vegan and cruelty free.

Obsession Matte Naked Lip Kit in Strip Tease | Review and Swatches

If you don’t know who Obsession are, then let me fill you in. They are a sister brand of Makeup Revolution and they have just launched a bunch of gorgeous new products designed for people from all walks of life. Like Makeup Revolution, Obsession are extremely affordable but still high quality. I got myself a few new bits from the range, including this lip kit.

Inside the pretty, marble design box is a lip pencil and a liquid matte lipstick. I went for the shade ‘Strip Tease’ as I like the mauve/pink undertones in the gorgeous nude shade.

The lip pencil is slightly darker than the liquid lipstick, so I have been using it when I want to deepen up the colour slightly. I don’t use the lip pencil every time as I find the lipstick performs perfectly fine without it anyway. The lip pencil also looks great on its own.

The lipstick dries down nice and quickly and is very light-weight on the lips. I didn’t find it drying either, which is always a bonus in these winter months. The doe foot applicator makes application easy and smooth.

In the picture above, I’m wearing both the pencil and the lipstick and I’m really loving the colour. It’s like ‘my lips but better’ and really smooths them out. I don’t find that it sinks into lines either. I wore this on a night out with a friend and it stayed put through dinner, drinks and dancing – win!

NYX Love you so Mochi Eyeshadow Palette | Electric Pastels | Review and Swatches

I’m a bit of a sucker for all things Japanese inspired… Pokemon is a secret, excruciatingly nerdy love of mine. So these cool mochi inspired palettes from NYX really got me excited. Mochi are a squishy Japanese snack and do you know why NYX named their palettes after them? The products themselves are actually squishy too! There are two highlighter palettes and two eyeshadow palettes. I was drawn to the brights of this eyeshadow palette called Electric Pastels and just couldn’t wait to review it for you!

The colours are just so vivid and STUNNING and quite out of my comfort zone too. The other eyeshadow palette, called Sleek and Chic, is beautiful in its own right but quite muted and a lot like other palettes I already own.

The palette is a nice size and contains ten shimmer eyeshadows. It has a clear lid with the name of the palette written on the front in a eye-catching font. The word ‘Mochi’ is actually holographic which is a nice effect and goes well with the theme of the palette.

I love the range of colours in this palette – such a gorgeous variety of electric tones. Very eighties, very pretty.

I swatched each shade by swirling my finger over the shadow a couple of times and blending the colour down my arm. The shadows felt almost wet to the touch and very soft. I was quite impressed with the consistency actually and could tell they would be a dream to apply and blend.

I tried the eyeshadows out on the eyes today, using brushes. Although they are not as vibrant when applied with the brush, this isn’t a bad thing. It meant that I didn’t apply too much and regret my decision! I could gradually build up the colours and control the pigmentation on my eyes. I went safe with the lighter colours and the peach – I’ll one day pluck up the courage to go bolder!

I suppose the main reason you came here was to see how squishy these shadows really are? Well here you go…

There’s also a video of this on my Instagram highlights, in ‘Beauty Faves’.

I purchased my palette from Cult Beauty here, but you can also get it from the NYX website here. View the whole NYX Mochi range here.

Maybelline Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter in Molten Gold | Review and Swatches

You may have read my pretty moody review of one of Maybelline’s latest releases – the Master Holographic Prismatic Highlighter (and if not, click here) and there I mentioned I’d also picked up the Master Chrome in a Superdrug deal. Thankfully, this review won’t be anywhere near as angry because this time round, I’m pretty pleased with my purchase.

This gorgeous little highlighter was doing the rounds on many a US YouTuber’s channel but took a lifetime to appear in the UK. When it finally arrived in Superdrug, I was excited to see if it would live up to my expectations and its amazing reviews from overseas. As you know, I hated the Master Holographic which arrived in the same package, so the need to enjoy this highlighter was pretty high!

I adore the pattern pressed into the powder itself – geometric lines are just so aesthetically pleasing! The colour, on first glance, looked pretty intimidating for my fair/medium skin and I was worried it would make my cheeks look bruised on application but it actually sits pretty well. It’s a very flattering gold which I feel works well on most skin tones (but maybe not the super pale).

Master Chrome Highlighter swatched in natural light

The powder itself is finely milled and not full of microglitter (like its ugly sister) and blends out beautifully. It is a very bold highlighter – not one for those of you who love a subtle glow! It builds well and sits still on the skin all day.

Phew – well that’s a relief! My faith has been restored in Maybelline – what a gorgeous little offering this highlighter is! I believe there is a pinky toned one coming/already here – but I am yet to find it. I’ll definitely let you know my thoughts when I am able to get one.

Makeup Revolution Reloaded Iconic Fever Eyeshadow Palette | Urban Decay Naked Heat Dupe?

I treated myself to two palettes from the Reloaded collection of four – Newtrals 2 and this one. Newtrals’ warm tones really appealed to me but what really drew me to this one was its likeness to the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette.

I’ve been eyeing up the Naked Heat Palette since its release as I love how the chilli pepper tones have translated into such beautiful eyeshadows. When I saw this pretty much perfect dupe from Makeup Revolution, my bank account gave a sigh of relief! This palette costs only £4 compared to Naked Heat which retails for around £40.

There are some absolutely gorgeous shadows in this palette and one in particular actually blows my mind. It is the last shade on the bottom row – a black/brown with a duochrome red/orange effect. It’s amazing! I keep swatching it on my hand and gasping each time!

As usual, I swatched the colours in natural light after dipping my finger in each pan and swirling it around twice.

Can you see how pigmented those eyeshadows are? There isn’t one that is a dud or a let down. The shimmers are especially easy to work with and are surprisingly creamy and buttery when you consider the tiny price tag. There are some shades which are perfect for the crease and some bold brights that will look incredible all over the lid. I’m loving the possibilities with this palette!

You can buy it from TAM Beauty here, or Superdrug here.

What NOT to Buy | Maybelline Master Holographic Prismatic Highlighter in Opal

Now, you know I love a good highlighter. Never a day goes by where I’m not wearing any – even on ‘no makeup’ days I can’t be without it. So when I saw that we finally had the Maybelline Master Chrome highlighter I’d been seeing all over American YouTube influencer’s videos, I ordered myself one from Superdrug Online. Whilst I was browsing I also saw this ‘holographic’ highlighter from Maybelline and it was part of an offer on the website. I hadn’t and still haven’t heard anything about this online, so I was very intrigued.

I’ll get straight to the point here – this product is AWFUL. I’m actually shocked at the terrible quality of it. Firstly, it’s not holographic – not even close! It has a slight lilac shift to it but it is mainly just white.

When I began to swatch it, dust was flying all around me – chalky, crumbly flat-toned dust. The solid product was literally disappearing before my eyes and into the air and onto the floor. I gave it the benefit of doubt and tried to swatch the half ton of product now on my finger and barely anything came off! It had actually congealed on my finger tip and just wouldn’t transfer.

Next, I tried it on my face with my usual highlighting brush and oh my goodness, that was a complete disaster too! Completely unwearable and very unattractive!

Don’t even consider buying this ‘highlighter’ – trust me. I’m really disappointed in Maybelline to be honest with you as their products are usually very high quality and very pretty. I will be reviewing the Master Chrome highlighter over the next week though and that is a totally different story – absolutely gorgeous! Keep you eyes peeled for that one.

Have you got yourself this product? Or do you have another did highlighter which is similar?

Heather Lou Cosmetics 35 Olivia The Second Colour Eyeshadow Palette

I was beyond excited when Heather Lou Cosmetics said they would send me one of their beautiful eyeshadow palettes and even more excited when I saw that it would be this one – the 35 Olivia The Second *swoon*. The palette comes in a black case, with a Heather Lou sticker on the lid.

Inside the palette are 35 pretty large pans of eyeshadow all in beautiful, warm tones. There is a good mix of matte and shimmer shades and they all compliment each other perfectly. I sound like a broken record right now – but I love me some warm tones and this palette has plenty of them!

I’m very impressed with the pigmentation of the shadows in this palette (please bare in mind that it is only £10.99). The shimmers are absolutely stunning, especially when you wet your brush and the mattes are very pretty too. All of the shadows blended very easily on the eye and I didn’t experience any creasing throughout the day.

To swatch the shadows, I relied on natural daylight and swirled my finger in the pan three times. I tried to blend out the shadows slightly with my finger too (click the images to take a closer look).

This palette would be perfect for a pro (it’s going in my MUA kit) but also for those who want to improve their makeup skills. It has shades for lazy, all-over-the-lid days, shades just to deepen the crease or shades to create an out-of-this-world glam look. It’s excellently versatile and just one of those palettes that is an absolute treat to look at.

So if you’re looking for a Morphe 35O2 dupe at a fraction of the price, visit Heather Lou here.

I Heart Makeup Chocolate Orange | Review and Swatches

I am seriously loving the chocolate themed palettes from I Heart Makeup at the moment. An obvious dupe of the Too Faced ones, the I Heart Makeup range of palettes offer an affordable but very high quality alternative. The range of colours available in the varying themes is astonishing too. I love them and if you don’t own one yet, I promise you’ll fall in love with them too. This Chocolate Orange palette is just made for me – take a look inside and you’ll see why…

All my warm tone dreams have come true! Every single shade in this palette is what I usually gravitate towards from multiple palettes. Having them all in one place is a real gem and super convenient. Another bonus? The palette actually smells like Terry’s Chocolate Oranges!

Inside the very bright orange topped case, is a large mirror and a mixture of 16 matte and shimmer shades. There are some dusty roses and pinks, orangey browns and then there are some pure orange tones! There is also a shimmery gold which swatched amazingly and looks stunning on the eyes. You’ll see what I mean from the swatches below.

As usual, the quality of this palette has not disappointed me. I’ve never had a dud from I Heart Makeup to be honest and I have to say that they’re getting more exciting with every one they release. The colours are once again, beautifully complimentary and also long-wearing on the eyes. Yes, some are more pigmented than others but overall the pigmentation is excellent for it’s low price tag.

I’m excited to see what 2018 brings for I Heart Makeup, as their products are always so quirky and exciting. The packaging is always fun and the products themselves are excellent quality and extremely popular. Some of my most searched reviews on Sparkle with Kerry are the I Heart Makeup eyeshadow palettes!

Makeup Revolution Re-loaded Newtrals 2 Palette | Review and Swatches

Here’s a quick post on one of the beautiful and incredibly affordable new eyeshadow  palettes from Makeup Revolution. This right here is the Re-loaded Newtrals 2 palette and it is one of four to make a huge impact since it’s release last week.

If you already own the original Neutrals vs Newtrals eyeshadow palette, then you’ll know that it is full of gorgeous pinks and reds all warm and lovely, with some cool tone colours thrown in. This Re-loaded Newtrals palette contains all warm tones and is so up my street. It comes with 15 shades, a mixture of matte and shimmers – some so subtle that you’ll sparkle under bright lights. There is a brown on the top row which has very pretty micro glitter in it and I love it! Took me a while to realise it was there though as it only appears in certain lights – so unique!

The best part? This palette is only £4! That’s right, you heard me correctly, £4! Don’t think that this low price brings low quality either – the pigment from a majority of the shadows is unreal. I’ll say that a couple of the mattes are quite pale and patchy – but those shimmers pack a real punch! They are so buttery too and blend like a dream.

As I was swatching this palette this morning I knew that it would cause real problems for me – I wanted to use every single shade on my eyes there and then! You’ll probably feel the same if you get yourself one. The colours are just so pretty and so complementary to each other, you’ll be overflowing with ideas on how to use it. I went for a very basic and as usual, boring look today.
