I Heart Makeup Peach and Glow | Review and Swatches

I Heart Makeup are a sister brand of Makeup Revolution who seem to be playing the role of quirky little sister. They’re products are always fun and unique and definitely appeal to people like me! This Peach and Glow Palette is another something special item from their chocolate range (read about the Chocolate Rose Gold palette here) and I’m just in love with the cute packaging.

The palette is a lovely and practical size. It is encased in a peach outer with 3D chocolate bar patterns on the lid. Inside the palette is two pans – one highlighter shade and one shimmery blush shade. There is also a decent mirror – something I’d never say no to having.

The product itself is very shimmery and has some beautiful tones. It has an ombre effect in the powder itself which I really like the look of. I also like that you can either swirl the colours together or pick and choose what you’d like to use that day.

The blush swatched and blended in natural light

When the blush colours are blended together they create my ideal Blush shade – peachy/pink with a shimmery undertone. It makes me look healthy and glowy which is what I want from a blush. The highlighter is also gorgeous – I’m a bit hooked on it actually! It is very intense and a little goes a long way, but it gives that ‘wet look’ that I’m into at the moment.

Makeup Revolution Gradient Highlighters | Rose Quartz Lights

Here’s part 2 of my reviews of the Makeup Revolution Gradient Highlighters! Read Part 1 – Sunlight Mood Lights, here. This time it’s my particular fave, Rose Quartz Lights. To be perfectly honest, I have used this every single day since I received it. It is just my perfect blush. When I saw it on the website, I was concerned it would be too dark, but once all swirled together on my brush, it creates the most beautiful bronze peach glow.

As I mentioned in my previous post, this is called a highlighter but it really isn’t one. I always use it as a blush. Even the lightest colour on this would be too dark as a highlighter for me, but could maybe work on people with deeper skin tones. On the far right of the product, the colour gets pretty dark and would actually make a beautiful bronzer. However, I use this as a blush by dipping my brush along all the colours.

Makeup Revolution Gradient Highlighter | Rose Quartz Light – Swatches

To swatch the product, I used three fingers and took product from the left, middle and right of the blush.

This blush always works perfectly with the rest of my makeup, as I love warm tones and browns/bronzes/peaches/orange tones on my eyes. It also has a very subtle shimmer to it – which I love from a blush as it makes you look extra glowy.

The Gradient Highlighters are currently on TAMbeauty for just £4 each, buy yours here

Fun Valentine’s Day Makeup

Yay, I’m so excited about this one! Baby J had a long nap this afternoon, so instead of cleaning, doing the washing, blah, etc. I played around with my makeup collection! I’ve been planning a Valentine’s look for a couple of weeks and I really hope you like it. It’s quite OTT in some places, but you can use what you want from it. I took a no makeup selfie to start with, for a bit of ‘before and after’.

I haven’t gone into detail over my whole face prep, as I’ve done that before in my Christmas look and it hasn’t really changed much since then. I’ve taken a photo of everything I used and here is the list –

  • Soap & Glory Speed Plump Moisturiser
  • Carmex lip balm
  • L’Oreal True Match Foundation in Vanilla Rose
  • L’Oreal True Match Concelaer in Vanilla
  • MAC Paint Pot in Painterly as an eye primer
  • Collection Precision Contour
  •  Collection Eyebrow Definer
  • PS… Pro HD Mascara

I have put the focus of this post onto my eye makeup, as it’s the statement part of the whole look. For eyeshadow I used the amazing Makeup Revolution 144 Ultimate Eyeshadow Palette Collection 2017 (an amazing £10!) I’ve written about it before here.

I’ve taken step-by-step photos as I feel it’s easier to show you what I did, you can also see what brushes I used for each part of the eye, they’re from the Spectrum Eye Blending Set.

  1. I applied a peachy nude to my whole lid and up to the brow bone

2. A light pink in my crease

3. I went over the crease again with this darker pink shade

4. The darkest pink in that column was then applied to my outer corners

5. I used the neon pink as a liner on half of my under eyes

6. I then used the bright lilac on the other half of my under eye and blended them together for a gradient effect

7. I used a bright, shimmery, light pink on the centre of my lids

8. I completed the work with the shadows by applying Unicorns Heart highlighter – the pink shade – to the inner corners to make my eyes pop!

Here’s how it looked when they eye shadow process was complete –

To make the look fun and unique, I applied The Sparkles Store Valentine’s Mix loose glitter to my inner corners and then picked out the cute little hearts and stuck them with glitter fixing glue on my outer brow bone.

Now for the lashes! These are called #Sexy and are from Beauty Atelier Shop. You can purchase them here. You can also use this code – KER 10 – for free shipping, woohoo! The eyelashes are handmade and 100% silk. They are so comfortable to wear and create an instant car eye look! Beauty Atelier Shop also have other amazing and exclusive items that you need to check out. I will be uploading a video about some of their products in the next few days.

For highlight, I used Glitter Eyes highlight in the shade ThatGlo. My blush is from a palette in the Makeup Revolution 12 Days of Christmas box.

And finally…lips. I used the awesome Makeup Revolution Retro Luxe Matt Lip Kit in Echelon .

And there we have it! I’m so pleased with the final result! Unfortunately, my camera didn’t pick up the prettiness of the highlighter, it has an iridescent pink shimmer in certain lights. Believe me when I say that it’s beautiful.

What will you be doing on Valentine’s Day?

Happy Valentine’s Day 2017 Sparkle with Kerry readers! Love you all!

Beauty Product Review – The Balm NUDE’tude Eyeshadow Palette

Oh how I loved a well packaged, quirky makeup product! Here is a new fave – The Balm’s NUDE’tude Eyeshadow Palette. It consists of 12 gorgeous nude shades.

I already own the How ‘Bout Them Apples? Cheek and Lip Cream Palette which has the most hilarious packaging.

I love the half-naked cowboys and their loose links to the blushers inside!

The packaging in the NUDE’tude palette is also fabulous. This time we have illustrated ladies with the eyeshadows in place of their underwear.

The colours have been given names in the form of adjectives beginning with the letter ‘S’. My husband found it hilarious to ask me to guess which one he thinks best describes me, I answered with ‘Sassy? Sultry?’. But no, his answer was ‘Stubborn’ – nice!

I have swatched the palette below –

Sassy, Stubborn, Selfish, Sophisticated
Sexy, Serious
Snobby, Stand-offish, Sultry, Seductive, Silly, Sleek

I used the palette today to create this eye look –

  • Stubborn – all over the eyelid
  • Sultry – crease and cat eye
  • Snobby – inner crease and inner corner
  • Stand-offish – centre of lid
  • Sassy – Brow bone

I also have the How ‘Bout Them Apples blush on in Cider.

Overall, the palette contains some highly pigmented shades. When I first received the palette I felt slightly disappointed by the tiny amounts of eyeshadows you get, but upon using it I can see that you only need a little of each shade. A little goes a long way!

Beauty Product Review – Makeup Revolution Ultra Blush Palette ~ Golden Sugar

Eeek! This palette is just beautiful! It’s from Makeup Revolution and is the Ultra Professional Blush Palette in Golden Sugar.

Inside you have a collection of bronzers, merged blushers, baked bronzer and two merged baked highlighters.

I have numbered each shade to make it easier to distinguish the shades in the swatch photos. Here are the swatches.

The photos have been taken in natural light, without a flash.

Here’s my finished look (as usual, I went subtle – whimp!) –

For my look I used –

  • Shade 3 on the apples of my cheeks
  • Shade 1 as a highlight on my cheekbones, nose and Cupid’s bow
  • Shade 7 as a contour
  • Shade 2 (a tiny amount) over my cheeks

You can buy the palette for £6 here.

Makeup Masterclass with Love Moi Makeup and Lancome

On Thursday evening, my friend Emily and I went to Debenhams for a Makeup Masterclass with Emily of Love Moi Makeup and Lancome. We were both super excited to be attending and we weren’t disappointed.

We were greeted with the offer of Prosecco and knew we were in for a good night (even if we did both just opt for orange juice or tea!). We had a gorgeous goody bag to look through whilst we waited.

Inside the bag was –

  • Anti-stress moisturising day and night creams
  • Galateis Douceur – Gentle Softening Cleansing Fluid
  • Tonique Douceur – Softening Hydrating Toner
  • La Base Pro – Illuminating Makeup Primer
  • Advanced Genifique – Youth Activating Concentrate
  • L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick
  • Hypnose Mascara Volume

Once everyone had arrived for the evening, Emily (the makeup artist, not my friend Emily!) began the tutorial. She used only Lancome products and a lot of them were new. She showed us how to do a smoky eye look with a nude lip. Here’s the finished look –

I was particularly impressed with the new cushion foundation which had lovely, build-able coverage and looked gorgeous on the model’s skin. The blusher used was also a cushion one and was very vibrant, but looked beautiful on the skin. We were able to try some of the products and I was particularly impressed with the primer – it made the skin on my hand feel so unbelievably smooth, I’m tempted to use it as a hand cream!

After trying the products in my goody bag, I’m absolutely loving the Lancome range. I’ve never owned any of their products before, but will be purchasing myself the mascara as it doesn’t leave me with panda eyes and makes my lashes look so long and not clumpy. I just love it!

Overall I had a brilliant evening. Emily was very professional and approachable. She is available for lots of occasions, including wedding makeup and covers many areas of the country. If you’re in the Norwich area, make sure you book yourself onto one of her upcoming classes and you won’t be disappointed.

Beauty Product Review – Miss Yifi Rainbow Highlight

Whilst scrolling through my Facebook feed a few months back my eyes were drawn to a post about ‘Rainbow Highlight’. Oh Hello unicorns, mermaids, dragons and anything remotely mystical! I did my research and saw that the photo was of a product by Bitter Lace Beauty. I hunted them down on Etsy and realised at this point it would be near impossible for me to get my hands on their beautiful Prism Rainbow blush. This stuff sells out almost instantly and the waiting period is months long.

So what did I do? I turned to good ol’ eBay and searched ‘Rainbow Highlight’. Results returned this one by Miss Yifi

I ordered myself one and sat back for a couple of weeks as it had to be delivered from China. For just under £7 it’s a fraction of the price of the Bitter Lace Beauty one.

I’ve got to say, it does have a much more subtle impact than the BLB one, but I like that. I was applying it with a brush but it really wasn’t working, but after reading this post by Lima of Fashionicide where she suggests to use your finger instead of a brush, my rainbow highlight game has changed forever!

Now I know it’s a massive risk to buy a little known product and slap it straight onto my face, but I did research Miss Yifi and they are relatively well know in the deep, dark depths of the beauty world. I’ve noticed no skin issues so far either. Touch wood.

To be honest, I’m not one to rock up to Tesco with a rainbow on my cheek, but I would definitely wear it on a rare night out. Instead I use it as a eyeshadow or mix the colours together to create a lovely multi-tonal highlight.

Have you managed to bag a rainbow highlighter yet? Are you brave enough to wear it?

Right, I’m off to ride my unicorn – see ya!
