Barry M Meteor Storm Eyeshadow Palette | Review and Swatches

I swatched this palette months ago in store and instantly fell in love. I didn’t buy it at the time because it was sold out and has been ever since. I couldn’t buy it on Superdrug online either. This week in Boots however, I was pleasantly surprised to see some on the shelves! I also had enough points to buy the palette which is £9.99. Who doesn’t love a freebie?

The Barry M Meteor Storm palette contains eight metallic and duochrome shades – all stunningly unique and like nothing I already own. The more I get to know this palette the more amazed I am with the quality and its beauty.

The packaging is a simple cardboard box with a magnetic closing and a mirror inside. It is extremely lightweight and portable.

I swatched each shade lightly on the back of my hand.

The first four shades swatched in natural light
The final four shades swatched in natural light

The colours swatched beautifully and the pigment was impressive. I said an ‘Ooo’ with each one, it was like I was watching a fireworks display! The duochrome shades are especially eye catching as they’re so unique. They look amazing on the eyes too and stayed put all day.

The only downfall to the palette (for some people), is that there is no matte shade to use as a transition shade. This didn’t bother me in particular because I have so many palettes each with a decent enough shade for this purpose. To be honest, it’s nice to have a palette completely dedicated to metallic and duochromes – who wants a boring matte chucked in there too in place of a more unique colour?

Overall I absolutely love this palette and I’m so glad I managed to get myself one. I’ll be sharing my looks over on Instagram, so keep your eyes peeled. I would say that these eyeshadows work best and are way more intense when you apply them with your finger or a wet brush.

NB Labs Bio Extracts | Advanced Eye Contour Collection

Bio Extracts were one of the first companies to back my blog in its early stages and send me an amazing PR package. Since then, they have continued to support me and even sent me a lovely Easter card this year! You can read my original review here – Bio Extracts @Home Lab.  I was so excited when I was contacted by them asking me to try out their new range of eye products. This is the new Advanced Eye Contour Collection. This collection works on the same premise as the already released range, in that you get a beautifully rich lamellar system cream and some boosters.

The innovative idea behind Bio Extract skin products, is the personalisation of your skin care routine. If you’re suffering from a particular skin issue one morning or evening, you can adjust your products to your needs.

Bio Extracts are a vegan brand, that use the latest biotechnology to harness powerful plant extracts which are amazing for your skin. The eye cream itself is formulated with the Bio Extracts unique Multi-Lamellar System which has a structural similarity to your skin’s own natural layers. When it is applied to the skin, it mimics these layers acting like a hydrating patch – enhancing its barrier function, leaving it feeling instantly refreshed and hydrated.

Here’s the extra exciting part – the boosters! I absolutely love these and to be totally honest, so does my husband. It’s so nice to be able to check out your skin in the morning and personalise your skin care to it. It’s the same with the eye boosters. You can purchase the Lift and Firm Boost or the Brightening Boost. I use the Lift and Firm at night and the Brightening one in the morning.

The Brightening Boost will help the skin around the eyes look more radiant and revitalised. The Lift and Firm Boost will help to give a firmer, plumped up appearance around the eye contour.

You can also combine your eye cream with both boosters, if you’re feeling the need for super optimum results around the eyes (perfect after a heavy night!).

I have found the cream and boosters to also be an amazing base to my makeup. I have experienced little to no creasing around my eyes where my concealer usually sits. The makeup sits still and looks very smooth too.

Belle’s Beauty and Glitz Cosmetics 35F Palette | Review, Swatches and Tutorial

Here it is! The third installment on my series of reviews, swatches and tutorials on the Belle’s Beauty and Glitz Cosmetics eyeshadow palettes. This one is the 35F – a palette containing 35 beautiful and versatile shades. There are seven highly pigmented matte shades and 28 shimmer shades.

20170419_101908

This palette is right up my street as it contains orange-toned, warm and Autumnal themed tones which are my go-to colours. I find these colours really make my blue eyes pop and are just stunning to work with and create beautiful looks.

I randomly swatched some of my stand-out shimmer shades below –

Here are six of the seven matte tones (I couldn’t swatch the first colour as it is a perfect match for my skin tone and wasn’t showing up on camera!) –

As usual, I had a go at creating a simple, but statement eye look with this palette. I added eyeliner this time (something I’m terrified to do!) but you can recreate this look without it.

  1. I used one of the lightest matte orange shades in my crease

2. I then deepened the outer crease colour with the next matte orange shade along in the palette

3. I used a pink, shimmer shade all over my lid and blended up to the crease. This pink shade is gorgeous! It has a peachy/gold duochrome shimmer to it which, when it catches the light, is blinding!

4. I deepened the outer V colour with a purple shade from the far left column of the palette and also ran this along my lower lashline

5. Finally, I attempted eyeliner – sorry I’m no good at applying this!

Ta-Dah!

Once again, Belle’s Beauty and Glitz Cosmetics haven’t failed to impress me with yet another beautiful palette. The colours and pigmentation are just brilliant. The quality and range of colours present endless looks and they send my creative mind into overdrive!

If you would like to purchase the Glitz Cosmetics 35F palette for yourself for only £13.99, then click here.

Makeup Tutorial for Sunset Eyes using the Belle’s Beauty & Glitz Cosmetics 12P Pigmented Vibrant Palette

Today I will be showing you how to create a Sunset Eyeshadow look with this beautiful Glitz Cosmetics 12P palette from Belle’s Beauty. This is my second post about the gorgeous palettes from Belle’s Beauty and you can read my first post here.

Once again, we have another top-quality, stunning 12 colour eyeshadow palette. This one features 6 matte and 6 shimmer shades – all bright and bold!

I have swatched all the shades from left to right, starting on the top row.

12P Swatches taken without a camera flash
12P Swatches taken with a camera flash

As the weather is getting progressively warmer and more sunny, I thought it was only appropriate to create an eyeshadow look that reflects a sunset. Please let me know if you have a go at this – I’d love to see what you achieve – I may even feature your photos on the blog!

Step 1 – Apply the pink shade along the lashline and blend around halfway up the eyelid

Step 2 – Take the muted orange shade just above the pink and blend up into the lower part of the crease

Step 3 – Now take the bolder orange shade and emphasise the outer crease and eyelid with it. Use a fluffy brush to blend out any harsh lines. Don’t worry if it looks messy at this point – stick with it as you’ll tidy it up at the end

Step 4 – Use the yellow shade above all the previous colours and on the brow bone. Be quite light-handed with this colour, you want it to be subtle

Step 5 – Tidy under the eyebrow using a small brush and the white shade

Step 6 – To create an ‘ocean’ effect use the blue, teal and purple along your lower lash line. I did this in sections and blended them at the edges for an ombre effect

Ta-Dah!

The colours in this palette are super pigmented and were just so perfect for this eye look. They blend so beautifully too which means the ombre effect needed was easy to achieve. This look is just perfect for Summer – whether that be on holiday, evenings out or festivals. I can’t wait to recreate it again using other colours from the palette. I also think it would look great with black winged eyeliner – or even gold!

To buy your own Glitz Cosmetics 12P Palette visit Belle’s beauty here. Be sure to check out their other palettes too – some are in the sale! I will be featuring another palette in a tutorial soon – subscribe to the blog so you don’t miss it!

Makeup Revolution ~ I Heart Makeup – Unicorn Love Palette with Swatches!

Makeup Revolution’s sister brand I Heart Makeup, have just launched this beauty. It’s the Unicorn Love palette and oh my gosh, it has a furry outer case!

Inside you get 16 matte and shimmer shades all with elements of fantasy and unicorn. Each shade has a fairytale name, for example – Fortune, Magic, Wings, Sparkle (my personal favourite name for obvious reasons!). There is a lovely range of shades – not as wild as I’d have expected from a palette named after creatures of the rainbow – but they are subtly beautiful. There are some perfect crease and transition colours, some beautiful, glittery brights and some all-round stunning shimmery shades.

You also receive a double-ended sponge applicator. I would’ve preferred a brush as I find sponge applicators to be the most useless makeup tools known to man – why oh why? There is a large and extremely useful mirror which spans across the whole inner casing lid and doesn’t distort you like something from the House of Mirrors.

I have swatched all of the shades for you below – I took one photo with the flash on and one without. I swatched from left to right, starting on the top row.

Unicorn Love Palette – Taken without a camera flash
wp-image-1369237590jpg.jpg
Unicorn Love Palette – Taken with a camera flash

The shades I am particularly impressed with are –

  • Flutter – a beautiful peachy shade
  • Fortune and Gallop – both orangey/pinky browns one is shimmer, one is matte
  • Story – Gold and so sparkly – just stunning!
  • Wings – The perfect neutral brown crease shade
  • Love – a gorgeous champagne gold and white

I created this look with the palette, here’s how –

  1. All over the lid, use Pure to set your primer and create a smooth base
  2. In the crease, use Flutter
  3. On the outer crease, use Wings to add more definition
  4. To create a Halo Eye look, use Fortune on the inner and outer corners and then blend them together along the crease so that they meet there in the middle
  5. Use Fortune again along the lower lash line
  6. To darken up the edge of the outer corner, use Gallop and blend out
  7. Using your finger, put Story in the middle of your eyelid and the middle of your lower lash line – this really adds to the Wow Effect!

As you can probably tell, I am a little bit in love with this palette. I love the range of shades to suit all skin tones and eye colours. There are endless looks to be created with it. The colour pay off and pigmentation is fantastic – particularly in the shimmer shades like Story. I’m wearing this eye look now and it hasn’t moved all day. I do use an eye primer, but it hasn’t dropped down below my eyes or moved into my crease. I am very impressed for a palette that costs only £7.99.

You can purchase this palette from TAMbeauty, but be quick as it does keep going out of stock very quickly! As I write this, there is only 1 left! Here’s the link to buy – Unicorn Love Palette.

Makeup Revolution Fortune Favours the Brave Eyeshadow Palette

Once again I’m writing about Makeup Revolution and once again it’s an amazing product. This is the Fortune Favours the Brave eyeshadow palette which was designed in collaboration with the brilliant British Beauty Blogger aka Jane Cunningham.

The eyeshadows are inside a gorgeous matte gold case – it’s a good travel size and has a massive and very handy mirror inside. There are 30 shades inside the palette – a combination of mattes, shimmers and sheens. You also get a good double ended brush.

One of the most amazing things about this palette is the price. It’s £9.99 and is probably the only palette you’ll ever need. You can create hundreds of looks with this palette, from smokey eyes to matte glam. There are shades to suit every skin tone and eye colour too. I’ll be uploading a tutorial using this palette, later this week.

I have swatched each of the shades, starting with the top row, down and from left to right.

The colour pay off from the majority of the shades in this palette is fantastic. I’m amazed at the high quality and high pigmentation for the price. As mentioned before, I will be uploading a tutorial using this palette later this week.

This palette has been out a few months now and I’m really late to the party on this one, but I just had to review it. I’ve been using it pretty much every day since I got it last week and I’ve been very happy with the final results every time.

Glitter Eyes – Pressed Glitters

Ahh these are so beautiful! I’ve been so excited to share these with you. They really do personify the phrase ‘Sparkle with Kerry’! These are the pressed glitters by Glitter Eyes

Glitter Eyes is an online store full of all things sparkly and iridescent. They sell pressed glitters, loose glitter, highlighters (I have one of these to review too!), themed palettes, GlitterFix liquid and applicators and empty palettes so you can put your own together. The glitters are 100% vegan and cruelty free.

Fallen Angel, Nirvana
With a camera flash – FallenAngel, Nirvana
Rainbow Brights, Shimmering Sand, Peach Fizz

Rainbow Brights, Shimmering Sand, Peach Fizz

With Flash – Rainbow Brights, Shimmering Sand, Peach Fizz

Pressed glitters are amazingly innovative in that you don’t need glitter glue to apply them. You can apply with a finger or brush easily and quickly. The glitters are in a vegetable glycerine, which means they stick to the eye lid with ease and are also simple to remove. You can use your usual cleanser or wipe to remove the product.

Today I used Peach Fizz. I love peachy colours on my eyes as it’s a great colour to make blue eyes pop. I teamed the glitter with an eyeshadow palette from my Makeup Revolution 12 Days of Christmas box.

If you’d like to see more looks I create with the other glitters, just keep checking my Instagram – @sparkle.with.kerry

To buy the glitters, or any other Glitter Eyes products you fancy, go to the website – www.glittereyes.co.uk Pressed glitters are £5.99 each.

Mum’s Christmas Makeup Look

When my Mum asked me to have a go at her makeup, I felt so excited! She’s the perfect person to practice the skills I’ve been studying on my Makeup Artistry course. I had to bear a few things in mind whilst I made my plan –

  • This is a Christmas party look, so it had to have a bit of classy sparkle somewhere!
  • Mum has green eyes, so I checked the colour wheel to see which colours complimented this and went for purples and burgundies.
  • Mum is a bit older than me, so really won’t appreciate unicorn highlighter and false eyelashes!
  • I asked Mum to bring her own foundation so that it was a perfect match for her skin tone and type.

Plan.jpg

After going through the plan with Mum, we decided not to use the Grav3yard Girl Swamp Queen Palette shade ‘Mancat’ as I previously planned, and opted for NYX Single Shadow in ‘Addiction’ instead as it had a bit more shimmer to it and a dramatic look.

Here is Mum’s before photo –

wp-image-1028489304jpg.jpg

We began by cleansing, toning, moisturising and finally priming the skin.

MoisturiserBio Extracts Light Face Cream mixed with the Glow Booster

Primer – Nivea Sensitive Post Shave Balm

Next was foundation, Max Factor Colour Adapt in 70 Natural (Mum’s own) –

My favourite part now! I used the Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer on Mum’s eyes and got to work on the eyeshadow look I’d planned for her.

Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette –

  1. Peaches n’ Cream all over the lid and brow bone
  2. Georgia over the lid
  3. Bellini in the centre of the lid
  4. Luscious in inner corner
  5. Peach Pit along lower lash line

NYX Hot Singles Shadow in Shade ‘Addiction’ in outer half of lid. I concealed under the eyes with the Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer.

Next up, brows! I was particularly pleased with this as I think they changed Mum’s face completely! I used the Collection Eyebrow Define in Blonde.

I used the Collection Precision Contouring Stick just under Mum’s cheekbones. I didn’t want to go overboard on this because I think Mum has a lovely bone structure, without me having to cut it even more with contour. I also used Makeup Revolution’s Golden Sugar Blush Palette on the apples of the cheeks in the third shade along the top row. To add a subtle highlight, I applied the Maybelline Master Strobing Stick in shade 001 Light.

15

The combination is gorgeous, don’t you think?

Now onto the lips, I wanted a subtle purple colour to make Mum’s eyes pop even more. We went for the Lancome Juicy Shaker in Berry in Love (smells delicious too!).

18

To complete the look, Mum applied her own mascara. Mum absolutely loves the Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara, she says she doesn’t get panda eyes with it and it stays on all day. Definitely one I want to have a go with!

Here is the completed look! Ta Dah!

Doesn’t she look beautiful? I’m so pleased with how everything came out and Mum was happy too! Mum’s eyes definitely look greener and larger and she’s definietly ready to party at Christmas!

Budget Beauty – Aldi Lacura Beauty ~ Magic Curl Mascara

Yesterday I reviewed the Aldi Lacura Beauty 3D Effect Mascara and today it’s the Aldi Lacura Beauty Magic Curl Mascara! This mascara is also priced at £2.49.

The packaging is really cute, with a lovely sky blue bottle with a pink eye print on it. This mascara has a curved brush as pictured below.

I applied the mascara to one eye first, so you could see the difference. I have the world’s shortest eyelashes as you can see below!

And here it is finished on both eyes!

Before and after –

Now it’s time to be honest! For a brilliant £2.49 this is a great start out mascara. You can’t really go wrong for that price. It is easy to apply and the brush has a brilliant curve to it which lifts the lashes. However, you need to apply a lot of product to achieve any impact. I also found that little bits broke off during the day and settled under my eyes (just the look I was going for). The curl didn’t last either and my lashes started to sag. The 3D Effect Mascara definitely had a better, more lightweight formula.

Out of the two I recommend yesterday’s Aldi Lacura Beauty 3D Effect Mascara and not this one.

Budget Beauty – Aldi Lacura Beauty ~ 3D Effect Mascara

I have seen a lot of good things online about Aldi Lacura Beauty recently. I am a member of a beauty conversation group on Facebook and the mascaras by the supermarket have been a hot topic of conversation. I went out yesterday and bought the 3D Effect Mascara and the Magic Curl Mascara. Today’s review is of the 3D Effect Mascara.

Just look at that brush!

The mascara packaging claims that it will give your eyelashes ‘curve, fullness and length. Three dimensional perfection’.

In the photo below I have applied the mascara to just one eye.

What a result! I am so impressed with this mascara, it glides onto the lashes beautifully and hasn’t smudged at all today. I did apply powder under my eyes to set my concealer though, so not sure how it would perform without this.

My lashes definitely look longer and fuller, especially my bottom lashes.

Here’s a before and after photo, just to show how fabulous this mascara really is!

The Lacura Beauty 3D Effect Mascara is available in Aldi stores and costs an incredible £2.49! It is a very lightweight formula which means my lashes don’t sag down throughout the day and have kept the lovely curl the mascara helped produce.

Have you tried any Aldi Lacura Beauty products?

Coming tomorrow, a review of the Aldi Lacura Beauty Magic Curl Mascara

UPDATE:

Here are some brilliant photos I received from Leanne using this mascara after reading my recommendation. I love seeing your photos based on my recommendations, so please send them in!
