I Heart Revolution Mystical Mermaids Lipsticks | Deep Under and Beach Babe

I absolutely adore I Heart Revolution products and have reviewed many over here on the blog – including the chocolate palettes, mermaid, unicorn and dragon highlighters and the intriguing surprise eggs.  I was super excited to see the launch of lots of lipsticks under either a mermaid, unicorn or dragon theme. Today I’ll be reviewing two from the Mystical Mermaids collection, but also keep your eyes peeled for reviews of two from the dragon and unicorn collections in the near future.

I chose the two matte shades in the collection – to be honest I can’t cope with anything other than matte on my lips for long day wear, so decided not to get any other shades. I really liked the look of these two shades anyway!

Below I have swatched them on my hand and on my lips in natural daylight.

Reasons I love these lipsticks – the finish is even and pigmented and lasts for a good, long time.

The colours are absolutely gorgeous – I especially love Beach Babe with its pinky undertone.

They look STUNNING! The outer packaging stands out with the turquoise tube with mermaid scales – it puts me in the mood for summer and I love the scales pattern on the actual lipstick itself too.

For £4, you really can’t go wrong!

I Heart Revolution Surprise Eggs | Rose Gold, Dragon and Angel

These cute little makeup filled surprise eggs were launched on TAM Beauty last week and received a lot of hype over on my Instagram. I’ve been excited to share the contents of them with you and my thoughts on what they’re like.

There are six eggs available but I chose three. Inside each are five eyeshadows and two highlighters. The outside casing is a chrome effect plastic egg-shaped case which is super adorable. I especially like the Angel casing as it has a duo-chrome effect which is very pretty. The eyeshadow shades are mostly shimmers, but some of the eggs in the range do include a matte or two.

Rose Gold

The Rose Gold egg has, you guessed it, a rold gold outer shell. Inside are four shimmer shades and one matte. I would say this egg is the most practical of the three for me as the highlighters are wearable and the matte is a great transition shade. The bronze shimmer is extremely pigmented and stunning.

Dragon

I would say that this egg is my favourite of the three I purchased. I love tones like these. The two mattes are beautiful, warming shades perfect for the crease and to deepen up the outer corner. You also have some variety on the shimmers with a bronze, gold or red. Just love it!

Angel

This egg just really doesn’t work for me and I ended up gifting it to my bestie. The highlighters are pretty, don’t get me wrong and each individual eyeshadow is lovely, I just don’t like the combination of shades together. The silver just throws the whole thing off. I wanted a bit more WOW from this product but instead I was left underwhelmed. The pink packaging almost misleads you – I wanted pink shadows inside…

In terms of quality, all of the eyeshadows blend well and stay well on the eyes (with a primer). The pigment is there. The highlighters are pretty, not the best quality ever but what do you expect for £5?
