Jeffree Star Cosmetics Blood Sugar Eyeshadow Palette | Review and Swatches

I’ve never been so excited for an eyeshadow palette as I was this one. I’m no die-hard fan of Jeffree Star, I rarely watch his videos but I do adore his makeup line. I own a few lipsticks and a highlighter and I seriously can’t fault them. When I saw pictures of this palette doing the rounds online and sat myself down to watch Jeffree’s launch video, I made it my mission to get my hands on it. It is everything I could ever want and need in an eyeshadow palette – let’s start with the incredible packaging shall we?

The palette came inside a retro looking VHS type box, which I have of course kept in a drawer because I simply can’t let go! The palette itself is an impressive size and in a beautiful red faux leather case with some amazing clasps – I own absolutely nothing like it! To be honest, the packaging played a huge part in my instant love for this palette – it’s just so aesthetically pleasing to me. I love the huge font on the top and just how bold it all is – you just know that inside is going to be something else.

And it really is! Just look at the 18 shadows of pure perfection – I haven’t stopped staring at them since it arrived on Wednesday!

The mirror inside the lid is an added bonus and is actually a very good sturdy one. I love the embossing on each eyeshadow – 16 of the shades have the JSC logo on them, one has a surgical needle and the other has the symbol of medicine (the Caduceus). I really like the whole medical theme of the palette – I’ve had an interest in the history of medicine myself since studying it at GCSE – sounds odd, I know but it’s all fascinating stuff!

Now for the reason you’re all here – the swatches! Once again, I did my usual – natural light, used my finger and didn’t use primer.

The top nine shades
The bottom nine shades

Amazing, right? Not one shadow is patchy, difficult to work with or lacking in pigment. Every single one feels like butter to the touch and blends like a dream. I’m particularly obsessed with the shades Tongue Pop, Cake Mix, O Positive, Prick, Cherry Soda and Extraction. There are just four shimmer shades in the collection and the rest are mattes. I don’t mind that there are so few shimmers because the ones that are in there are just stunning – no more were needed. I also really like the fact that you can create multiple looks with the palette and that each row works as a look but also so does each column – go back along my photos and you’ll see what I mean!

I have created a few looks with this palette myself now and have shared my favourite one below. For this one, I actually followed a Jeffree Star and Lipstick Nick tutorial, which you can watch here.

You can probably guess from my review that I love my new Blood Sugar Palette – in fact, I’d go so far as to say it’s my new all-time favourite eyeshadow palette. Even as I write this, it’s on the desk next to me open, sharing all its prettiness with me.

It went on sale last week and sold out the same day on Beauty Bay. I really don’t know the situation with re-stocks unfortunately. I really hope they do because I just want everyone with a love of makeup to own this beauty. I’ll post an update on my Instagram when I hear any news. If not, you can buy it from the Jeffree Star Cosmetics website, here (when back in stock!).

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in Christmas Cookies | Review and Swatches

This isn’t my first review of a Jeffree Star Cosmetics product, you can read all about the last liquid lipstick I reviewed here. This is the one shade I chose from his Christmas Collection. Christmas Cookies is a gorgeous peachy nude and the one shade in particular, which really stood out to me. This collection also saw a gold shade called First Class, which I’m hoping will eventually go into a Beauty Bay sale and which one day I’ll be brave enough to wear! I do have to say that all the colours are gorgeous, I’m just not cool enough to wear them!

As you can see from the photos, the packaging is stunning. This is my favourite design so far – the glitter and sparkles really appeal to me and not just for this time of year. My camera didn’t pick up the full impact of the glitter (as usual) but take my word for it that you won’t stop looking at it under a very bright light! I have a short video of it on my Instagram highlights in ‘Beauty Faves’ – check it out!

The lipstick comes in a holographic box with the name sticker acting as a seal. The liquid lipstick comes in a very sturdy and expensive feeling container with the gorgeous pink and glittery packaging. The lid also clicks shut which means it won’t come open in your bag – phew! It has a curved doe foot applicator which makes applying the lipstick easy and slick.

The colour itself is lovely, I’ve been wearing it every day since I received it because it’s the perfect everyday colour. I wouldn’t say it lasts all day and it is quite drying. It looks lovely when first applied though.

And last thing to say – Merry Christmas to you all! Thank you for your amazing support and I hope you have a wonderful time ♥

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick | Family Collection | Nathan

When I saw the launch video of the new Jeffree Star Family Collection, even I had to admit it was adorable. It was heart-warming to see Jeffree and Nathan in their family home, with their dogs, talking about their reasons for the colour choices and shade names in the collection. My attention was particularly kept by the shade Nathan, of course named after Jeffree’s partner.

Nathan is a beautiful muted terracotta nude shade which screams Autumn to me. If I could describe my perfect and ideal lip colour of the moment, this would be it. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Beauty Bay stocked these so soon after they were released and that they were sold separately. The lipsticks are also available as part of a set (the other shades are BEAUTIFUL too).

I already own a couple of Jeffree Star Cosmetics lipsticks and I already love the formula of them. They glide on, they are pigmented and they stay put for hours. Yes, they are pretty drying on the lips, but just make sure you put on plenty of lip balm before bed and you’ll be fine. The formula of this new lipstick seems even more long-wearing I would say. I’m wearing it now after a pretty long day and two meals in between and it’s still hanging on. I was pretty disappointed that the iconic scent is not as obvious in this one though. I absolutely love the root beer smell of the previous lipsticks but really struggled to pick it up in this one.

This lipstick is vegan, cruelty free and matte.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics | Skin Frost Highlighter in Princess Cut

I’ve never really been Jeffree Star’s biggest fan and haven’t watched many of his videos until recently, but I have to admit I have a bit of an obsession with looking at swatches of his Skin Frost Highlighters and getting a bit excited about them. The range of shades and the uniqueness of them is just stunning and to be honest, it was pretty difficult to choose just one. I went with Princess Cut in the end, as I felt it was best for my light/medium skin tone.

Look at that glow!

I ordered my Skin Frost from Beauty Bay as this is the only website in the UK where they are currently available. The highlighter was packaged in a gorgeous pink box, with Jeffree’s logo on the front. The pan itself is HUGE – you get a lot of product for your money. Inside the lid is a nice big mirror too – perfect for my massive face.

Princess Cut swatched in natural lighting (WOW!)

As you can see from the swatch above, this highlighter is bloody blinding. It actually hurts my eyes to look at it! I am in love with the colour – a very light lilac with a silver reflect. It’s beautiful.

The one downside for me – it’s a tad chunky on the skin. If I apply this to my nose it looks pretty horrendous and like I’ve sprinkled glitter on myself for fun. This is made worse by the oils that tend to occur on my nose throughout the day. A bit of a shame really, but it looks amazing on the top of my cheekbones and it really stays put ALL DAY.

Makeup Revolution Skin Kiss Highlighter in Ice Kiss

It is once again time for another highlighter review! This is the beautiful Makeup Revolution Skin Kiss Highlighter in the shade Ice Kiss

The rose gold packaging for this highlighter is absolutely stunning. It is a large compact and you get 14g of highlighting powder for only £5 which is excellent value for money. There is also a huge mirror inside – handy for on the go!

The look and feel of these highlighters really remind me of the Jeffree Star Skin Frost ones (but I feel these are a much classier version!).

In the pan, the powder has a white glow but in the light it has a gold reflect. These highlighters have been designed for the body as well as the face (hence the reason why you get so much product) and this particular shade would look gorgeous along the collar bone on an evening out. I applied it to the cheekbones and nose today and I’m so pleased with how it looks.

The powder is very buildable and can also be applied with a wet brush for a more intense glow.

You can buy your own Makeup Revolution Skin Kiss Highlighter here. There are four shades currently available – Ice Kiss, Peach Kiss, Golden Kiss and Bronze Kiss.

Which one would you choose?
