Fun Valentine’s Day Makeup

Yay, I’m so excited about this one! Baby J had a long nap this afternoon, so instead of cleaning, doing the washing, blah, etc. I played around with my makeup collection! I’ve been planning a Valentine’s look for a couple of weeks and I really hope you like it. It’s quite OTT in some places, but you can use what you want from it. I took a no makeup selfie to start with, for a bit of ‘before and after’.

I haven’t gone into detail over my whole face prep, as I’ve done that before in my Christmas look and it hasn’t really changed much since then. I’ve taken a photo of everything I used and here is the list –

  • Soap & Glory Speed Plump Moisturiser
  • Carmex lip balm
  • L’Oreal True Match Foundation in Vanilla Rose
  • L’Oreal True Match Concelaer in Vanilla
  • MAC Paint Pot in Painterly as an eye primer
  • Collection Precision Contour
  •  Collection Eyebrow Definer
  • PS… Pro HD Mascara

I have put the focus of this post onto my eye makeup, as it’s the statement part of the whole look. For eyeshadow I used the amazing Makeup Revolution 144 Ultimate Eyeshadow Palette Collection 2017 (an amazing £10!) I’ve written about it before here.

I’ve taken step-by-step photos as I feel it’s easier to show you what I did, you can also see what brushes I used for each part of the eye, they’re from the Spectrum Eye Blending Set.

  1. I applied a peachy nude to my whole lid and up to the brow bone

2. A light pink in my crease

3. I went over the crease again with this darker pink shade

4. The darkest pink in that column was then applied to my outer corners

5. I used the neon pink as a liner on half of my under eyes

6. I then used the bright lilac on the other half of my under eye and blended them together for a gradient effect

7. I used a bright, shimmery, light pink on the centre of my lids

8. I completed the work with the shadows by applying Unicorns Heart highlighter – the pink shade – to the inner corners to make my eyes pop!

Here’s how it looked when they eye shadow process was complete –

To make the look fun and unique, I applied The Sparkles Store Valentine’s Mix loose glitter to my inner corners and then picked out the cute little hearts and stuck them with glitter fixing glue on my outer brow bone.

Now for the lashes! These are called #Sexy and are from Beauty Atelier Shop. You can purchase them here. You can also use this code – KER 10 – for free shipping, woohoo! The eyelashes are handmade and 100% silk. They are so comfortable to wear and create an instant car eye look! Beauty Atelier Shop also have other amazing and exclusive items that you need to check out. I will be uploading a video about some of their products in the next few days.

For highlight, I used Glitter Eyes highlight in the shade ThatGlo. My blush is from a palette in the Makeup Revolution 12 Days of Christmas box.

And finally…lips. I used the awesome Makeup Revolution Retro Luxe Matt Lip Kit in Echelon .

And there we have it! I’m so pleased with the final result! Unfortunately, my camera didn’t pick up the prettiness of the highlighter, it has an iridescent pink shimmer in certain lights. Believe me when I say that it’s beautiful.

What will you be doing on Valentine’s Day?

Happy Valentine’s Day 2017 Sparkle with Kerry readers! Love you all!

Beauty Product Review – Makeup Revolution Blush Palette ~ Blush Queen

Today I wanted to tell you about my other blush palette purchase. Last week I let you in on the Golden Sugar palette by Makeup Revolution and many people were impressed with the gorgeous shades. Well I think you’ll be just as impressed with this palette!

Once again, we have eight pigmented shades here. They are a combination of highlighters and blushers. I have numbered them for you to make identifying the swatches easier.

The first four shades are perfect highlighters. They have a lovely shimmer to them and what I would normally go for myself. I took the photo in natural light, without a flash.

Shades five to six are much more pigmented and more ideally to be used as blushers. they are stunning colours and you need very little product on your brush to get beautiful impact on your cheeks. Shade five in particular could easily double up as an eyeshadow!

Here’s the look I went for –

I used –

  • Shade 1 as a highlighter along the top of my cheekbones
  • Shade 3 on the apples of my cheeks
  • Shade 4 of the very centre of the apples of my cheeks to add extra highlight

You can bu the palette from Makeup Revolution here for only £6.

Beauty Product Review – Maybelline Master Strobing Stick

The Maybelline Master Strobing Stick has been making many an appearance on my Facebook newsfeed over the last couple of weeks. Maybelline have used a simple, but effective advertising campaign of short video clips of the product in use on a beautiful model’s face moving under the light.

After being sucked in by the clever promotions, I purchased the product with my Boots Advantage Card points (don’t we just love beauty freebies?!) and gave it a go today. I have a meal out with work colleagues tonight, so it is the perfect opportunity to road test the stick.
The product contains micro fine pearls which accentuate glow. It glides on very easily with one stroke and can be blended in quickly with fingers or a beauty blender. This product is perfect alone on the skin for that ‘natural’ dewy look, but also works very well over foundation.

Places to wear the product –

  • Top of cheekbones
  • Down the bridge of the nose
  • Cupids bow (looks amazing with a pinky lipstick!)
  • The eye area – inner corners of eyes and brow bones
  • Other highpoints of the face including chin and forehead

Overall I’m very happy with this strobing stick. It’s fuss-free and handy for those days where my skin needs a pick-me-up glow without all the fuss of highlighting powders and brushes. I chose the light version but there is also a medium shade available. You can buy the Maybelline Master Strobing Stick front Boots here

Have you guys mastered the strobing trend yet? Which products do you use?

How to: The Perfect Pink Ombré Lips using NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams

After having so much fun having a go at nude ombré lips yesterday, I thought I’d have a go at a pink look!

For this look I used:

  • NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream – Prague
  • NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream – Istanbul

I began with clean, exfoliated and dry lips.

Next I applied NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Prague around my lip line and then filled it in slightly.

The final step was to fill in the middle part of the lips with NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Istanbul. As I said yesterday, the key to ombre lips is to blend, blend, blend! Put your lips together a rub gently, for a more natural and blended look.

So, what do you think? Have you tried ombre lips yet? It’s so much fun!

Beauty Product Review – Models Own ~ Dare to Bare

This week Models Own released their Dare to Bare collection. It contains nude lipsticks and hyper gel nail polishes, an eyeshadow palette and a finishing powder. I ordered myself the palette and a nail polish. They arrived in the gorgeous box you can see above in the featured image and wrapped in the coolest tissue paper! If you want to buy any of the items, click the names of the products and it’ll take you straight to the website.

Dare to Bare Hyper Gel

I got the shade ‘Suede’ which has a gorgeous pinky tint to it. The polish is known as a Hyper Gel and claims to have the effect of a gel polish. It does look super shiny on my nails and was very easy to apply. It has a good shaped brush and you could definitely get away with just one layer of the product. There are five shades in total to choose from in this range. I had a nightmare trying to pick just one!

Dare to Bare Eyeshadow Palette

Just look at this beautiful packaging!

The box itself is gorgeous, but then take a look at the outside casing of the palette!

Here are the shades in the palette –

They are all matte and beautifully subtle. I wasn’t sure if be a fan as I love a good, dramatic eye look, but these really impressed me. I decided to team them up with a red lipstick for a real statement. I like to wear pinky and brown tones as they work well with my blue eyes. Here’s the completed look –

The shades I wore for this look were –

Nude – all over the lid and brow bone

Stripped – inner corner of eye

Skin – outer half of eyelid

Intuition – in the crease

Raw – outer and lower lash line (as a liner)

What do you think of the new Models Own Dare to Bare collection?

Let me know in the comments if you’d like to know any of the other products I’m wearing on my face and also what you thought of this post!

Beauty Product Review – SEVENTEEN Mega Matte Lipsticks (Part 2)

Welcome to part 2 of my review of the SEVENTEEN Mega Matte Lipsticks. These lipsticks are currently on offer in Boots stores and online at £3.49. The colours I will be reviewing today are –

Violet Summer

This is my favourite of the three colours today. It’s such a rich, beautiful colour which went on my lips easily. You don’t need too much of this product either as it’s very pigmented.

I wore this lipstick on the weekend, when I visited my family, with my beautiful daisy print Pretty Little Poppet playsuit. It was the perfect summer combination!

The Coral of the Story

This is a very cute colour. It’s the kind of colour I would wear on a daily basis as I love pinks. I will also be pairing this with one of the looks from the Too Faced Totally Cute palette, so keep your eyes peeled for that post!

I think it would go perfectly with my fun H&M dinosaur sweatshirt and some casual jeans for a laid back look.

Nude News

This is a lovely, subtle colour. It has a hint of pink and is very close to my original lip colour.

I wore this shade yesterday and here’s the completed look. I went for green tones on my eyes using the Too Faced Sweet Peach palette and a subtle shimmer on my cheeks using the Natural Collection Highlighting Stick (see my previous review).

For my outfit, I decided to mix patterns with my stripey, unicorn embroidered H&M t-shirt and my toadstool print Cath Kidston skirt. I feel the lipstick colour really makes the unicorn colours pop – can you see what I mean?

Thank you once again for reading my review of these lovely lipsticks. They’re definitely worth every penny as they are available in many gorgeous colours and have excellent staying power.

Have you purchased any? Are there any other products you recommend by SEVENTEEN?

Beauty Product Review – Natural Collection Highlighter Stick

I was excited to see on my Boots app this week that Natural Collection have released some very appealing and summery highlighting sticks. I love make up like this, as it’s something I can apply quickly  and it will still have a beautiful impact. It’s also brilliant for days at home or in the garden when I don’t fancy putting on a whole face of make up. It will work perfectly with a good tinted lip balm and some mascara. I went out and bought two of the three shades – Coral Glow and Rose Glow. They’re an incredible £1.99 each – bargain!

The shade Copper Glow is also available. The product is the perfect size for your summer clutch bag, ready for a top up. Here are some swatches for you –

Natural Collection Highlighting Stick – Coral Glow
Natural Collection Highlighting Stick – Rose Glow

I opted for Rose Glow today as I wanted a more subtle glow. I used it mostly on my cheeks, but also used it to highlight my nose and Cupid’s bow. I was very pleased with the results and it was especially effective in the beautiful sunshine we had here today.

Also on my face –

  • NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Ceylan
  • Tanya Burr Peachy Glow palette  – the bronzer
  • NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in London

I hope you’ve enjoyed this review. I highly recommend these cute little highlighters. Get them in store at the Natural Collection stand or order them online here.

Do you have any other Natural Collection products you would recommend? Would you like to see make up video tutorials?
