As mentioned in my previous Revolution Pro post, I was sent the whole range by the company. I’m still in a state of shock to be honest with you and can’t stop looking at all the beautiful products! I wanted to review this palette for you because I know a lot of people want to know what it’s like!
It comes in a sleek black box with the Revolution Pro logo emblazoned across the front. I’m really loving the Pro range packaging – it looks expensive and professional, something I really want to shine through from my own kit. Inside are four large pans of extremely bright highlight. I literally heard the angels sing when I flipped open the lid and was temporarily blinded by the shades – what a punch this palette packs!
As you’ve already figured out from the title of this blog post, this is the Gold palette – there are two 4K palettes, the other being the Rose Gold one (which I will hopefully review soon). The highlighter in the top left is a pure white/platinum shade and is perfect for very fair skin tones. The other three pans are dripping with gold shades – good for medium to deep skin tones. I couldn’t get away with wearing them as a highlight, but they make bloody good eyeshadows!
Although this palette packs a punch, I do have to be quite honest in saying that it is quite chunky and very glittery. When I put my finger in for the swatches, or use a brush to get product, there is a lot of fall out and kick back unfortunately. I also find it doesn’t stick to my face that well – gutted! It terms of its uses in my MUA kit, the pigment itself would be perfect for a fashion shoot or something that needs a blinding glow and a bit of sparkle.
I absolutely adore I Heart Revolution products and have reviewed many over here on the blog – including the chocolate palettes, mermaid, unicorn and dragon highlighters and the intriguing surprise eggs. I was super excited to see the launch of lots of lipsticks under either a mermaid, unicorn or dragon theme. Today I’ll be reviewing two from the Mystical Mermaids collection, but also keep your eyes peeled for reviews of two from the dragon and unicorn collections in the near future.
I chose the two matte shades in the collection – to be honest I can’t cope with anything other than matte on my lips for long day wear, so decided not to get any other shades. I really liked the look of these two shades anyway!
Below I have swatched them on my hand and on my lips in natural daylight.
Reasons I love these lipsticks – the finish is even and pigmented and lasts for a good, long time.
The colours are absolutely gorgeous – I especially love Beach Babe with its pinky undertone.
They look STUNNING! The outer packaging stands out with the turquoise tube with mermaid scales – it puts me in the mood for summer and I love the scales pattern on the actual lipstick itself too.
This is the first of many Revolution Pro product reviews on the blog, as I was very kindly sent a large selection of products from the range. As my regular readers will know, I feature Makeup Revolution (now just Revolution) products a hell of a lot on here because I really believe in the brand. I also feel like the brand believe in me too – I’ve been to two of their epic event parties now and met some amazing people whilst there. The head honcho of the brand, Adam Minto, has also had a lot of time for me and it is thanks to him that I have been sent these amazing products from the new Revolution Pro range. He knows about the Makeup Course I have just enrolled on and he has supported me by helping build up my MUA kit. For all of this, I am extremely grateful.
Back to the product itself! Meet the Revolution Pro Regeneration Goldmine Eyeshadow Palette! Revolution Pro was launched on the 28th March and there has been a lot of hype online about it. The new releases have come in their hundreds – foundations, eyeshadow palettes, brow products, highlighters, lip pigments and lipsticks – so. much. stuff.
This palette contains 18 richly pigmented eyeshadows along a gold/orange/brown theme. This is my ideal palette for everyday makeup looks and I can see it being a staple in my MUA kit – perfect for Mother’s of the Bride and more mature ladies.
To be honest, I swatched these eyeshadows terribly! I think I was having an off day! I just wanted to get this post up as quickly as possible as I know a lot of people are searching for reviews on the Pro range. I found that generally the mattes took more work to swatch than the shimmers did. They were nicely buildable on the eye, but some were quite patchy. The darker shades actually performed pretty well, and I created a smokey eye look using the shades Lavish and Private Jet. I usually struggle to blend darker eyeshadows, but these were pretty good!
The eyeshadows were swatched with my fingers, on no primer in natural light.
Overall, the palette performs pretty well. It’s not my favourite palette produced by Revolution – but that is mainly due to personal preference. I prefer more bold, statement colours, whereas these are quite safe. As I said before though, it’ll be a fantastic addition to my kit.
