Soph X Revolution Extra Spice Eyeshadow Palette and Syrup, Cake and Fudge Lipsticks – Full Review and Swatches!

I am really loving the Revolution collaborations at the moment – you hopefully would have seen my recent review of Carmi’s palette with them last week (if not, read it here). I was very excited that SophDoesNails was releasing a second palette with Revolution, as her first palette is one of my faves and is one of my most used palettes (I also reviewed that one here!). It was fab to see that she was releasing lipsticks too – after all, she is the nude lipstick queen! I have to say, on first look, I am pretty blown away by the packaging. The palette’s outside design is a reverse of the original palette – with a rose gold lid and matte nude writing. I really like that the lipsticks match this too.

The Lipsticks

Aren’t they just beautiful to look at? I love how these look and also how Soph’s signature is engraved into the lipstick itself – such a sweet little touch. There are three nude shades to choose from – suitable for all skin tones.

Syrup is the lightest shade and is your everyday peachy/brown nude. Cake is the medium toned shade with a pink undertone. This is my personal favourite as I love a nude with a hint of pink. The darkest shade is called Fudge and is just as gorgeous as the other two. I’ve been wearing it today actually and it is very flattering on my skin tone.

Top to Bottom – Syrup, Cake, Fudge

The lipsticks aren’t a matte finish – which is probably my only issue with them. You know I love a matte, but the formula of these is very nourishing and moisturising so that’s a good thing. They do last well, but not all day. For £4 each, you really can’t go wrong. To buy yours, click here.

The Palette – Extra Spice

This is an eyeshadow palette full of gorgeous summer tones and hot, chilli vibes. There are also a few cool toned shades in there – including a silver called Infinity, which is pretty incredible and a dark brown called Brownies. There are some khaki colours too – really not my thing, but I know some people will love these! My current favourite shade is the deeper orange shade called Sweet N Sour, which is perfect through the crease or all over the lid. For a simple look today, I paired it with Dreams all over the eyelids and it looked really pretty!

Some of the eyeshadows are definitely more pigmented than others. The one I struggled with most to swatch was Vitamin C (the light yellow), but it picked up surprisingly well on a brush. The shimmers are all very good, especially the yellow gold called LA Sun. Overall, I’m impressed once again with the Soph collab – is it as good as the first? Makeup Revolution Soph X Highlighter Palette

Last week SophDoesNails released her beautiful eyeshadow and highlighter palettes as part of her collaboration with Makeup Revolution. This morning I received the highlighter palette and let me tell you – this palette packs real glow power! I reviewed the eyeshadow palette last week and you can read that here

This palette contains eight highlighting powders. Soph created this palette with pale skin tones in mind as she has very pale skin herself. Some of the powders are baked and some are just pressed powders.

Swatching these was easy! The powders are so pigmented, it took literally a tiny swirl in the pan and one swipe with my finger for them to show on the skin. They all felt very soft and all look absolutely beautiful. I especially love the second gold along, which I’m wearing today.

The highlighter has excellent staying power and has stayed on all day. I went for an eye test today so my head has been in various machines and I have been trying on lots of pairs of glasses – the glow has stayed put! I’m in love and I don’t think there’s a shade I won’t be able to use. Even the darkest two colours would make stunning eyeshadows or would look beautiful as a body highlight.

Makeup Revolution Soph X 24 Eyeshadow Palette | Review and Swatches

When I saw SophDoesNails announce her collab with Makeup Revolution, I was super excited! I loved the look of the eyeshadow palette especially after she went through each shade and her reasons behind each shade name (watch it here).

It is immediately apparent that this is a very versatile palette and I began planning many different looks using it in my head. When it was released on Wednesday at 10:30am, I was poised over the buy button! The palette arrived this morning and I just can’t stop looking at it, I mean just look at the picture below and tell me it’s not beautiful!

The palette arrived in a gorgeous pastel pink box, designed by Soph herself. She actually painted the watercolour design which covers the whole box herself. It also has a few paint splats in rose gold over it and Soph’s signature in rose gold too. The palette itself is a very cool matte nude with the rose gold writing on it once again. I absolutely love the packaging to be honest, it is right up my street and just looks so chic.

Now for the swatches!

So, I can honestly say I really like every colour in the palette. The neutrals are gorgeous and will look amazing as transition and crease shades. The matte shades didn’t swatch as well as the shimmers did and took two dips into the palette. The bonus thing about this is that you can gradually build colour instead of putting too much on at the first brush stroke. Every single shimmer shade is super pigmented and very pretty. I’m very impressed with the quality considering this palette was only £10 for 24 eyeshadows.

I had a go at creating a look using my stand out shades today, and here’s what I did –

  • Pancakes – all over the lid
  • Tiramisu – in the crease
  • Pumpkin – on the outer crease
  • I then created a cut crease base using concealer
  • Sparks Fly – over the cut crease base on the inner corner
  • Grow Old – over the cut crease base on the centre of the lid
  • Danger – on the outer corner and lower lash line
  • Fairy Lights – as an inner corner highlight

The colours were extremely easy to work with – blendable with some fallout but nothing major.

Overall, I’m super excited by this palette and can see it becoming a firm favourite and go-to palette for everyday use as well as special occasions. A big congratulations to Soph – so great to see beauty gurus and YouTubers doing so well!
