Dandelion & Bloom | Bespoke, Handmade Flower Crowns

It’s not every day that I get approached by such lovely people as Kelly, the creator of Dandelion & Bloom, with such exciting blogging opportunities. So when I heard what she had to say, I just couldn’t wait to get photographing, typing and sharing with my lovely readers!

Dandelion & Bloom make beautiful handmade crowns for festivals and special occasions. Kelly also makes bridal crowns and bouquets – she really is one talented lady! Kelly asked me what flowers I like in particular and then got to work making me my very own one-of-a-kind flower crown and here it is…

I chose flowers which really mean something to me – sweet peas as they played a huge part in my own wedding day and lavender because my mum and I have a running joke about my love of the scent and her hatred of it! I really appreciate these personal touches.

My crown arrived packaged in a large box and was protected well in lots of tissue paper. The crown itself contains faux flowers and foliage, which means I can wear it for years to come. The flowers are attached securely to a soft but sturdy Alice band and the crown is extremely comfortable to wear.

I took it out for a test drive today and my very lucky husband(!) got to take some photos for me…

Today also presents a landmark moment – the first time I’ve ever been happy with photos of myself! I love, love, love how the crown looks and I’m just really looking forward to Summer now!

A little more about Dandelion & Bloom

After creating a crown for her own wedding and receiving lots of compliments on it, Kelly realised she had the potential for a new and exciting business venture. Dandelion & Bloom was born from her spare room in her house in Norfolk and things have gone on to grow from there. Kelly will also be releasing children’s crowns later this year, called Little Blooms – something I am particularly excited for! I will, of course, keep you updated with the launch and order one for Baby J and review it for you.

You can find Dandelion & Bloom on Instagram here – https://www.instagram.com/dandelionandbloom
Facebook here – https://www.facebook.com/dandelionandbloom/
And the main website, here – http://dandelionandbloom.com/

Be sure to get in touch with Kelly if you’re after something in particular and she’ll be happy to help. There are also other pre-made crowns for sale on the website, here.

There will also be a Dandelion & Bloom Exotic Flower Crown Workshop running at Urban Jungle, Suffolk by Kelly herself on Saturday 7th July. Find more details here.

Stunning Cosmetics – Tanning Mousse

Spring is pretty much on it’s way and Summer will be here before we know it. As Summer approaches, the weather starts hotting  up and jumpers and jeans are thrown to the back of the wardrobe. In their place come t-shirts, shorts and swimwear (if you’re lucky enough to be going somewhere warmer than here!) In other words, we’re more exposed and a nice tan can give our confidence that extra boost when it comes to stripping off.

I am naturally pretty pale (thanks to my part Irish blood) and I love it most of the time. However, if I know I’m going somewhere special, I do like to put on a bit of fake tan to even out my skin tone and help me ditch the need for sheer tights. This week I was able to try out Stunning Cosmetics‘ own range of Tanning Mousse (travel size) and tanning applicator mitt as part of their beauty panel. Read on for my review (and a 20% off discount code!).

The tanning mousse was extremely easy to apply and went on very evenly. I love applying tan with a mitt, I find it’s the best way to do it and leaves your tan looking streak-free and flawless. The mousse already has a bronze colour to it, so you get an instant tan. A longer lasting tan will then develop on your skin over the next 8 hours. I like the fact that you get instant colour with this as it means you can see where you’ve applied it and makes sure you don’t miss any patches of skin.

Immediately after the application of Stunning Cosmetics Tanning Mousse

As you can see, immediately after application there is a huge difference to my skin tone! I  look like I’ve been on holiday (fab) and I just loved the result. My tan was in the shade light/medium

Stunning Cosmetics Tanning Mousse 24 hours after application and after a shower

This tan has great staying power! The picture above was taken after my shower, when the wash-off tan colour had gone and the long-lasting tan remained. Please ignore my hand – I did put some tan on it, but washed my hands five minutes later (D’oh!). I like how natural the tan looks. I applied it on Monday and today is Thursday and it still looks as strong as it does in that photo. I have been on two sweaty runs since then and showered every day – impressive!

To pick up your own Stunning Cosmetics Tanning Mousse or other tanning products – they have lots to choose from – visit the website here. Also, make sure to the use the code KERRY20 at the checkout for 20% off! This discount code ends at the end of April 2017.

Hair Accessory Store

Last week I was sent some beautiful hair accessories from Hair Accessory Store. They are an independent, online business specialising hair ties, alice bands, bun garlands, head scarves and many more! Here’s what I received…

Fabric Roses 3 Pack Hairbands – £2.49

These beautiful hair elastics each have a fabric rose securely attached to them. They are a simple way to make your average ponytail look much more pretty and ready for Spring/Summer. I’ve been wearing these when I go for a run to pull my hair back as the elastics themselves are very strong and really hold my very thick and usually untamable hair into place. You can buy the hairbands here for £2.49.

Bun Garland with Fabric Roses – £2.49

I just adore this piece! It really gets me in the mind of festival season and Summer. The roses themselves are beautiful and I especially like the dusty pink coloured one. The colour combinations are beautiful. This is as innovative as the hair ties in that you can use it to add extra prettiness to an otherwise plain hairstyle. This garland is used to wrap around your hair bun – excellent for holding down and hiding any stray hairs too! Buy yours here for £2.49.

Floral Print Chiffon Hair Bandeau – £2.99

This chiffon headscarf has the most beautiful print. I am all about these colour combinations of pinks, creams and greens. I love to wear this in between wash days when my hair is a mess and won’t do as it’s told. This instantly makes it look pretty and also controls it again so I can get on with my day without constantly blowing my hair off my face! This is also adjustable, so if you have a big head like mine, you can make it fit. Buy yours here for £2.99.

Animal Print Chiffon Elasticated Hair Bandeau

I also received this brightly coloured bandeau (which isn’t currently available on the website). It has various animal prints on it in cool, bright colours. This one is elasticated around the back and is easy to fit on and not ruin your styled hair underneath.

Take a look at Hair Accessory Store for more gorgeous accessories for your hair. They range from practical to dressing up, children’s to festival. They also do free delivery on orders over £10! Their prices are very competitive – I’d say they’re even better value than the likes of Primark. To visit the store, click here.

Beauty Product Review – Natural Collection Highlighter Stick

I was excited to see on my Boots app this week that Natural Collection have released some very appealing and summery highlighting sticks. I love make up like this, as it’s something I can apply quickly  and it will still have a beautiful impact. It’s also brilliant for days at home or in the garden when I don’t fancy putting on a whole face of make up. It will work perfectly with a good tinted lip balm and some mascara. I went out and bought two of the three shades – Coral Glow and Rose Glow. They’re an incredible £1.99 each – bargain!

The shade Copper Glow is also available. The product is the perfect size for your summer clutch bag, ready for a top up. Here are some swatches for you –

Natural Collection Highlighting Stick – Coral Glow
Natural Collection Highlighting Stick – Rose Glow

I opted for Rose Glow today as I wanted a more subtle glow. I used it mostly on my cheeks, but also used it to highlight my nose and Cupid’s bow. I was very pleased with the results and it was especially effective in the beautiful sunshine we had here today.

Also on my face –

  • NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Ceylan
  • Tanya Burr Peachy Glow palette  – the bronzer
  • NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in London

I hope you’ve enjoyed this review. I highly recommend these cute little highlighters. Get them in store at the Natural Collection stand or order them online here.

Do you have any other Natural Collection products you would recommend? Would you like to see make up video tutorials?
