I don’t own Modern Renaissance myself, but do have the W7 Delicious (another close dupe) and was able to use this to compare the shades. I Heart Makeup have done an extremely good job of replicating the shades and once again provide you with an opportunity to save your precious pennies. Why spend £45 when you can buy a very similar palette for £8.99?
The palette packaging is sturdy and very cute. It has the instantly recognisable dripping chocolate on the lid in a matte gold. Inside is a large mirror and then the 16 shades. There is a mix of matte and shimmer shades, but it is predominantly matte.
I am stupidly excited about this palette – the colours are stunning and the mattes blend out beautifully. I was so impressed when I first swatched the colours as they were very creamy and just so perfectly complimentary to each other. I wanted to use every single one on my eyes at the same time!
I can see this palette becoming a real ‘go to’ palette for me. I love reds and pinks around my blue eyes – I’m like a moth to a flame with them. There is one shade in particular that I’m obsessed with though and that is the muted mauve on the top row – it is so pigmented for such a light colour and blends like a dream. I just love this palette!
As you know, I already own quite a few Makeup Revolution products but I don’t own many of their lip kits. I have the Halloween Unicorn lip kit and the original Retro Luxe Matte kit in Echelon. However, the Echelon kit I own is in the original formula, which quite frankly wasn’t brilliant. Makeup Revolution worked hard to perfect their matte lip kit formula and I’ve heard only good things. I was super excited to see that they had put five gorgeous mattes, two glosses and three metallic shades into one box for Christmas and today I’m excited to share it with you!
The lip kits come in individual boxes inside a black, classy and pretty sturdy box. The kits are spread across two slide out drawers – an expensive looking Christmas present. Inside the top lid are illustrations of lips with the colours on and name of the kits. I really like this finishing touch.
The top drawer contains the matte lip kits and the bottom drawer contains two glosses and three metallics.
Let’s start with the matte kits. To be honest, I would buy this set for these alone. I love me a matte lipstick and five of them is just a bonus! They are mostly nude shades too, which are also my favourite (and a lot of other peoples’ at the moment!). Each kit contains a lip pencil and a liquid lipstick with a doe foot applicator. Each lipstick has a clear tube and matte rose gold lid. Each pencil is black, with a black lid and a little strip of the pencil colour on the bottom. The shade names are also written on the products.
Echelon – My favourite of the bunch! A pink based nude. This shade also won Gold in the 2017 Pure Beauty Awards!
Grandee – Very pink and very pretty. This is the brightest of the mattes
Noble – A close second favourite. This is a lovely brown nude
Duchess – A muted red/orange. Very sophisticated and slightly festive too!
Highness – A darker version of Noble – more brown but still in the nude category
Now for drawer two – glosses and metallics. Once again, all of these kits come with a lip pencil and liquid lipstick. The lids of the liquid lips are a shiny rose gold. So pretty!
Lip Glosses –
Honour – For a lip gloss, I actually love this. It isn’t gloopy and sticky. It is actually very wearable and super pigmented for a gloss. I love the colour too – a true nude brown
Original – This is my least favourite kit of the ten. It is very light and a peach colour. I just don’t think that it suits my skin tone. It would look lovely in the summer on someone with a fresh tan or even on deeper skin tones. I feel it just washes out my complexion. The colour is very pretty though.
Metallic Lip Kits –
Regent – This is the most pigmented and my favourite of the metallics. It’s a very festive red. It’s super unique and pretty. I feel this will be getting a lot of wear over the next couple of months!
Empress – This is a peachy nude metallic with a gold reflect. This looks gorgeous when it catches the light
In Waiting – another pretty pink. It’s the most natural of the metallics
When I swatched the lipsticks I didn’t use the lip pencils, I’ll hold my hands up this was probably not fair on the metallics. I feel the colours would be much more vibrant and stunning with a lip pencil underneath.
I have been testing out the formula of the mattes over the last few days and have to say I’m very impressed. The longevity of the colours is fantastic and lasted through various snacks, drinks and meals. The colours are also gorgeous. It is a lightweight formula and doesn’t have the stickiness that the original formula had.
If you’re debating whether or not to get this for someone for Christmas, or even as a gift for yourself I say get one! For £30 you’re getting £60 worth of products. There’s something in this set for everyone – you really can’t go wrong.

For the last few months I have been gaining experience as a makeup artist by joining my photographer friend on any shoots he invites me along too. When prepping for a shoot, I love going through my makeup and picking out the perfect products for the lovely models. When I saw that Makeup Revolution had put together this gorgeous highlighter palette, I knew straight away that it would be perfect to go into my kit bag.
The style of this palette really reminds me of the pricey Ofra one On the Glow (find it here), but is a fraction of the price at just £15. You receive eight highlighters in this well packaged and good-sized palette and a lot of product for your money.
I love the range of colours – peaches, champagne, lilacs, a mint green and many more! I’m also in love with the multi-highlight pans which have complimentary colours placed together (once again, very much like Ofra’s Beverly Hills).
The highlighters from the Kiss range were released a while ago by Makeup Revolution and I reviewed one back then (Ice Kiss). Since then they have redesigned the packaging and released more shades in the range.
The highlighters themselves pack a real punch and are just the most beautiful colours. As you can see from the swatches, they are very pigmented and very stunning colours. It was hard to pick which one to apply this morning! I went with Champagne Kiss and it is just so lovely!
They are quite glittery, which I really enjoy but I understand not everyone likes that in a highlighter. Makeup Revolution also released Brighter Than My Future, a more bronze based palette, more suitable for medium/dark skin tones. Check this one out too, it’s beautiful!

If you don’t love Mint Aero, then we can’t be friends. I’m sorry but who doesn’t?! This palette from I Heart Makeup just screams Mint Aeros to me and I couldn’t be happier about that! The lime green dripping chocolate design on the case looks good enough to eat and the eyeshadows inside… well you’ll be just as impressed.
Inside the palette are 16 beautiful shades – very autumnal, very warm, with some exciting and unique tones thrown into the mix. The yellow gold was what drew me most to the palette as I don’t have anything like it. Inside the lid is a huuuuuge mirror – something I’ve come to expect from all the Makeup Revolution and sister brands palettes now. The palette itself actually smells of mint chocolate too, which resulted in me dragging Baby J to our local Tesco to buy myself a bag of Mint Aero balls! Oops!
The red shade in this palette on the second row is absolutely STUNNING – I just have to put that out there. It looks perfect with the copper shade next to it and I can’t stop wearing them together. Absolutely spot on for this time of year!
I found that the eyeshadows swatched well, with just a couple of the matte shades taking more than one dip of the finger to get a decent swatch. The simmers however, swatched beautifully and were very pigmented.
This is one of those palettes that is lots of fun to experiment with – there are some unique shades in there that compliment each other and have high impact on the eyes. I love the shimmery greens so much, I just now have to get brave enough to use them!

As my Mega Bus pulled into Norwich bus station yesterday afternoon, I had to ask myself if the last 24 hours had really just happened. On Thursday night I had attended the annual Halloween Party hosted by Makeup Revolution, which took place at One Marylebone, London. What a night it was! I thought you might like to hear about my evening and see some snaps too.
I was allowed a plus one to the party, so invited my bestie Natasha along. As you can imagine, on the coach down we didn’t stop talking and checking Instagram for party updates! After a quick trip on the tube, we found our hotel in Marylebone. Our room was lovely! Pretty much as soon as we had unpacked, we started to get ready.
I curled my hair with my Xtava curling wand and put on A LOT of makeup. In brief I used the Soph eyeshadow palette on my eyes along with the Fenty Beauty glitter release eyeliner, Ardell Demi Wispie eyelashes, Fenty Beauty Killawatt Highlighter in Trophy Wife and Jeffree Star liquid lipstick in Celebrity Skin. I also tried out The Ordinary coverage foundation for the first time and it was brilliant! I did use more products than this, but these were the ones really worth mentioning.
When we got to the venue at around 7.30pm, we were greeted by the sight of the Makeup Revolution logo projected onto the building. I already knew it was going to be a good night! Walking in, my breath was taken away by the size and beauty of the venue. There was a round bar in the centre of the room, with a large Makeup Revolution lipstick displayed in the centre. Waiters and waitresses were stood at the sides with trays of drinks and we were allowed to help ourselves! The cocktails were so tasty and there were even mini bottles of prosecco to drink too! Natasha and I wandered around the venue looking at the Halloween displays and seeing if we could spot anyone we knew.
At around 8.45pm we all gathered below the big screen and listened to an amazing speech from Adam Minto, the creator of Makeup Revolution. He thanked us all for supporting the brand and emphasised that this party was not to promote new products, but to celebrate the success of the brand and to show his gratitude to all the supporters of it. At this point I felt very overwhelmed and very grateful to even be there.
When the speech was over, we were treated to a performance by some amazing dancers (this dance was also incredibly terrifying!).
After the performance, a dance area was opened up and a DJ started to play music – the party had really started now! Food was brought around on trays for us to help ourselves – hot dogs, burgers, cones of chips, pots of southern fried chicken – it all tasted incredible! Natasha and I went over to some display cases to look at current and future new releases from Makeup Revolution and its sister brands. I’m especially excited by the multiple highlighter palettes (top left photo).
Upstairs in the venue was a ‘Creepy Convent’. This area had been decked out in all things spooky and was actually pretty scary! If you saw my Instagram stories from the evening, you’ll know what I’m talking about!
Before we left, I managed to catch Adam to thank him for such an amazing party and also for inviting me along. He spoke to me for a while and said things that I felt so amazed to be hearing, that I actually had a little cry afterwards. I won’t tell you what he said, but let’s just say that I will persevere with this blog and my studies in beauty. I’m not going to give up!
As we left the venue, we picked up our goody box. We walked back to our hotel and took in the sights of London at midnight on our way – that city really does never sleep!
The next day consisted of a quick trip to Primark on Oxford Street and then a long coach journey home. I felt so unbelievably happy all day and woke up this morning wondering if it had all been a dream.
Thank you Makeup Revolution. Thank you Adam. Thank you Natasha. And thank you London.
A few days ago I reviewed the beautiful new Mermaid’s Heart Highlighter from I Heart Makeup, today it’s the turn of Dragon’s Heart – a stunning, gold and warm toned highlighter.
This baked highlighter comes in a heart-shaped cardboard box with flame illustrations on the lid. The highlighter itself consists of five shades. These can be worn individually as highlighter, blushes or even eyeshadows.
When swirled together, the result is a stunning gold highlighter. I have been wearing this most days as I find it perfect for my skin tone.
I love the selection of colours in Dragon’s Heart and the actual dragon theme. This is definitely a must for any Game of Thrones fans!
The highlighter is nicely pigmented all round and stays put all day. I wore it on a coach to London yesterday and it lasted the sweaty journey!
Unicorns have been all the rage for a while but now there’s a new fad on the block – mermaids! I have to admit, I’ve been totally sucked in by it all – it’s all so pretty and shiny! I love the mermaid colour schemes and the sparkling, iridescent products and items. I was very excited to see that I Heart Makeup were releasing two new fantastical highlighters (after their very successful Unicorn’s Heart highlighter) – a mermaid one and a dragon one (a review of that is coming soon).
Mermaid’s Heart comes encased in the cutest cardboard box. It is an ocean blue colour with foil effect font. It is very eye catching! Now for the actual highlighter – It consists of five mermaid themed shades, which individually are beautiful in their own right. You have two colours which could represent the sea, a gold for the sand, orange for mermaid hair and pink for her shell bikini. Well that’s my interpretation anyway!
This product is extremely versatile – you could always use the shades individually as a unique highlight or you could use them as eyeshadows. Just think of the looks you could create! I have been swirling the colours together and using the result as a highlighter on the high points of my face.
When I first saw the highlighter, I didn’t actually think the colours would combine well and work out to be a flattering highlight – however I was very wrong. This product is like magic – when you mix the colours together, they actually end up combining into a beautiful cool toned, icy white colour. I love the overall effect and have been wearing it a lot.
Once again, as I have said with all the I Heart Makeup products I have reviewed, this highlighter is super pigmented, easy to blend and a dream to apply. This is a special product and definitely something I’d recommend getting your hands on – there’s nothing else like it.
For the first time ever, I’m actually pretty excited about Halloween this year. The reasons for this being, I have a very lovely Baby J who looks extra cute in a little Halloween outfit (it has a pumpkin on it). Secondly, I’m going to a very exciting Halloween party in London this coming week. Finally, I absolutely love seeing all the amazing Halloween themed makeup looks going around the internet at the moment! I have already experimented with a few Halloween products from Makeup Revolution (read about those here) but these have just been the gory ones. I wanted to try something a bit less scary and a bit more pretty – that’s why I picked up this unicorn themed lip kit!
I already own one of the Retro Luxe Matte Lip Kits in the shade Echelon and I absolutely love the quality of the lip pencils. I was excited to see that the pencil in this kit was nothing like I already own. I was very surprised by the swatches to see that the purple pencil also has a gold reflect to it. It is absolutely beautiful! The gloss which goes on top has micro glitter in it and is also very pretty. Both products could be worn alone.
But combined they create an even more beautiful look!
Now, I’m really not the biggest fan of lip glosses, in fact I find them gloopy and extremely annoying when my hair gets stuck to them and then smears across my face. However, I didn’t feel any of this with the gloss in this kit. It isn’t gloopy at all and it felt very comfortable to wear. I also liked the finish of it as it wasn’t so wet looking that I looked like I was dribbling.
This will look stunning as part of a unicorn Halloween look, but I’m also thinking it would look cool on a mermaid one too (something I’m going to be having a go at over the next week – keep your eyes peeled on my Instagram).

I reviewed a Makeup Revolution Strobe Highlighter a few months ago now and it was one of my most read posts. These highlighters were a very popular release for Makeup Revolution, so I really wasn’t surprised when I saw they had released four more shades last week. I was very fortunate to be sent this particular shade and I couldn’t wait to give it a go.
Lunar is an ultra intense lilac toned highlighter. It is absolutely stunning and one of my favourite tones for a highlighter. I love the uniqueness that a lilac one gives on the skin. I was pretty blown away by the swatch I did (below) and was even more amazed when I applied it to my face. I literally tapped my brush in the pan and began to apply it and the glow was insane! I actually had to blend it out a bit with my foundation brush because, believe it or not, I actually felt I had too much on! I know, shock horror!
The highlighter stayed on my skin all day and even managed to cling on during a very sweaty run this evening. It looks very pretty on the high points on my face. I spent a lot of the day moving my head in odd positions in front of a mirror just to make the highlighter ‘flash’ back at me!

I Heart Makeup are a sister brand of Makeup Revolution who seem to be playing the role of quirky little sister. They’re products are always fun and unique and definitely appeal to people like me! This Peach and Glow Palette is another something special item from their chocolate range (read about the Chocolate Rose Gold palette here) and I’m just in love with the cute packaging.
The palette is a lovely and practical size. It is encased in a peach outer with 3D chocolate bar patterns on the lid. Inside the palette is two pans – one highlighter shade and one shimmery blush shade. There is also a decent mirror – something I’d never say no to having.
The product itself is very shimmery and has some beautiful tones. It has an ombre effect in the powder itself which I really like the look of. I also like that you can either swirl the colours together or pick and choose what you’d like to use that day.
When the blush colours are blended together they create my ideal Blush shade – peachy/pink with a shimmery undertone. It makes me look healthy and glowy which is what I want from a blush. The highlighter is also gorgeous – I’m a bit hooked on it actually! It is very intense and a little goes a long way, but it gives that ‘wet look’ that I’m into at the moment.
