I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas – I know I did! I spent it with my family and my Baby J – what more could I want? What did you do this year?
I thought it might be nice to share some of my beauty related gifts with you and you never know, you may want to gift them to yourself as a result! The first gift I’d like to share is this eyeshadow palette given to me by my husband and daughter. This is the Sample Beauty Coax Palette and it’s a beauty…
The palette contains 18 very large pans of eyeshadow – 3 glitters, 9 shimmers and 6 mattes. The colours are vivid and definitely for the brave! There isn’t a shy colour in this palette, all are extremely pigmented, bright and making a bold statement.
I’d firstly like to mention that these are some of the most pigmented eyeshadows I’ve ever come across – up there with the Juvia’s Place eyeshadows – with the mattes being even better than Juvia’s (in my opinion). They blend like a dream and there is no kick back or fall down – just amazing!
Each shimmer shade is stunning in its own right. I’ve been obsessed with the bronze colours over Christmas and have been teaming them with the matte reds and browns.
Now let’s get to the glitters! There are three gorgeous pressed glitters in this palette –
Sorbet – a lilac glitter
Olive – a bronze/brown glitter
Terra cotta – a blinding fuchsia
Overall I am amazed and extremely pleased with this palette. I really can’t get over the pigment in the mattes and how beautiful the glitters are. This palette has also made me much braver with my eyeshadow looks as it’s impossible not to be with the colour selection.

Keep your eyes peeled for more Christmas gift posts!
Itsy Nails London were kind enough to send me four of their DuraPRO Gel Effect polishes to try last week. Itsy Nails are a cruelty free, vegan friendly brand with an amazing collection of beautifully coloured and high quality nail polishes.
The polishes themselves are very inexpensive at only £5.99 and for this you get a long-wearing, gel effect varnish which packs a colour punch! All of the colours in the gel effect range are unique and stunning for any occasion. You can view them all and buy online here.
Below are the four polishes I received and how they look after two coats on my thumbnail. I’m currently rocking the pink shade on all my nails and so far, I’m chip-free!
I have been in contact with Ingrid Hume from Pravera for a while now and she has kindly sent out some high-quality and beautiful natural products to me. You may have previously read my post on Benecos Cosmetics (if not, click here) where I gave them a glowing review. Now it’s the turn of the brand Lavera – a natural, organic and vegan beauty brand.
I created the look pictured below, using the products I was sent. Here’s a run down of everything I used and how I used it.
This eyeshadow quad is just STUNNING. My mind went into overdrive when thinking of all the looks I could create using just these four colours. I love the mix or peachy pinks and golds with khaki greens. They just match beautifully. I’m really into khaki eye makeup at the moment, so was very excited to try this out.
Here I created a very simple look using the mini palette. I used my Benecos single eyeshadow in Mauve in the crease, as I like to use matte shades there. I then used the pink colour over three quarters of my lid, starting from the inner corner. On the outer corner I used the peachy/gold tone. Along the lower last line I used a tiny amount of both of the green/gold colours.
This bronzer has a beautiful texture and consistency and blends like a dream. The colour is very buildable and I would say it looks much darker in the pan than it actually is. You can use the colours singly, or swirl them together with a brush. I mix them together as I find this to be the perfect match for my skin tone. I applied the bronzer just below the cheek bones, around the forehead and perimeter of my face. I love how glowy it made me look!
Wow, this little highlighter really packs a big punch! It is a cream product, so is best used before a powder. I have particularly enjoyed this on no-foundation days as it gives me maximum glow without all the other products. It’s been brilliant on these hot days we’ve been having. I applied the highlighter to the usual places where a glow is very welcome – cheekbones, bridge and end of nose, Cupid’s bow and brow bone.
Sorry guys, but here’s another product I just LOVE! I really don’t have anything negative to say about any of the Lavera products I’ve tried. This blush is pigmented, creamy, buildable and easy to blend out. It looks just stunning on the cheeks for that ‘glowing from within’ look. It is a plum toned powder, with a shimmer. I applied this to the apples of my cheeks.
I’m so pleased with how these products transferred onto my face. They have brilliant staying power too – I’ve even been for a run this evening and the eyeshadows haven’t creased! These are lovingly made, high-quality beauty items. I’m excited to try more from the range. Lavera also have skin, bath, baby, men’s, dental and other products to name just a few. Definitely check them out on Praverahere.
I’m very excited to be talking to you this evening about Pampered and Gorgeous. I came across this lovely company on their Instagram and was intrigued by their ethos of bringing their consumer pampering products which are kind to the environment, kind to animals and kind to nature. All of the products on the website are organic, cruelty free, vegan and natural.
All of the Katie Craig products sold on the website are paraben free and sulphate free. They are scented using essential oils – meaning they pack a real punch when it comes to their perfume. I was absolutely blown away by this body wash when I used it in my shower. I find that the scent really clings to the skin too, meaning its beautiful smell doesn’t leave once your bath or shower is over. It is also a brilliant little cleanser! I especially love using it after a run as it really refreshes my skin and leaves me feeling very clean and my skin feeling soft.
The Katie Craig body wash came presented in a gorgeous pink, purple and black box. The box itself is made from recycle card. In fact, all of the packaging is recycled. The packaging can also be recycled after use.
When I watched Shaaanxo’s new makeup line announcement video last week, I was so excited by the beautiful colours and quality of both her liquid and regular lipsticks. I was especially excited by the matte lipstick in the shade ‘Philocaly‘ and settled on just this one. It arrived today – just a week after it was posted from New Zealand!
Shaaanxo is by far my favourite YouTube Beauty Guru. I first discovered her when scouring the web for a wedding makeup tutorial. I actually used her one for my own wedding makeup (yes I was brave enough and mad enough to do my own makeup!). She always manages to achieve pure magic with any eyeshadow and her makeup tips are useful and achievable. I was extremely excited to see that she’d actually signed the card that came with the lipstick too – I had a extreme fan-girl moment when I saw it!
The lipstick came packaged in a cute white box with grey polka dots on it. Inside, the tube of the lipstick has a chrome/mirror effect which is just so classy and pretty. The lid clicks into place over the lipstick, so there’s no need to worry about it coming off in your handbag.
I did a swatch of the lipstick on my arm first and it swatched beautifully. It has a very creamy texture which glides onto the skin. The colour looks even more beautiful in real life and I think I picked well for my skin tone. It is a stunning pinky nude – my fave!
When I put it onto my lips, I was first impressed by the gorgeous smell of crème brûlée – don’t worry if you don’t like strong smells in your makeup, this is a beautifully subtle scent. The lipstick went smoothly onto my lips and didn’t cling to patches as matte lipsticks have a habit of doing. It feels very nourishing on the lips too. I’ve had it on all day and my skin doesn’t feel dried out at all. It also really stayed put! There was very little transfer when kissing Baby J and the hubby and it stayed on very well during meals.
Overall, I’m very happy with this lipstick. I’m so pleased that it has been lovingly designed and created by a brilliant YouTuber, who has worked hard to get to this stage. You could tell from her announcement video how much this collection really meant to her. Philocaly also really reminds me of MAC’s Brave in colour – but I actually prefer this formula! It has better staying power and is much easier to apply.

Dollibox is a beauty subscription box, delivered monthly. I received the May box and here’s what I got inside –
The box costs £10 a month, for five full-sized or deluxe sized products. The box gives you the opportunity to try well-known brands, up and coming niche brands and also cult classics. To subscribe for yourself, click here.
Here’s the low-down on May’s box.
Seacret Makeup Remover Wipes
I don’t tend to use makeup remover wipes because of their negative environmental impact, but like to have a pack in my drawer in case I need to have a quick clean up (great for late nights!). These wipes are absolutely brilliant at removing ALL of my makeup. They are oil-based so even take off my very stubborn waterproof mascaras with ease. They also leave my skin feeling beautifully soft. I’d never heard of this brand before this box, but I will be taking a look at their other products for sure!
Palmer’s Coconut Oil Deep Conditioning Protein Pack
Palmer’s are one of those brands that you can trust. I have owned quite a lot of their produts over the years and have always found them a failsafe in repairing damaged skin and hair. I haven’t used this hair conditoning pack yet as I’m saving it for an evening of pampering, but I’m sure it will do wonders for my currently very dry hair!
Cougar Rich Honey Moisturiser
I love this moisturiser! I started using it straight away, as the moisturiser I was using wasn’t doing anything special for my skin. This one contains pure natural honey and banana extract. I can’t stand the smell of bananas and thankfully, this cream doesn’t smell like them! It contains many vitamins and minerals and the honey is a natural antiseptic – great for helping to heal minor skin irritations and blemishes without drying you out. I highly recommend this product.
Leopard Cat Eyebrow Palette
The packaging for this is just perfect – gold and a leopard with leopard print details! It is a cute size too, perfect for on-the-go. Inside are two eyebrow powders and a mini angled brush for application.
Focallure Face Blush
I can’t stop wearing this blush! It is so pigmented and easy to blend out on the cheeks. The colour is gorgeous too and very buildable. There are 11 shades available in this range of blushes and I received the pinky coral one. It gives my face a lovely, Spring-time glow which I’m just addicted to.
Deborella Mermaid Necklace
Last, but not least, is this AMAZING ‘Mermaid Life’ necklace from Deborella Accessories. This was an exclusive product in Dollibox this month. Deborella are a new company who produce mainly lasercut jewellery and stationery. Make sure to have a look at their website – there are just so many beautiful products to choose from, I want it all!
I am very impressed with Dollibox and have enjoyed trying out the products and reviewing them for you. To subscribe for yourself, click here.
I am very excited to be sharing this product with you. The Basic Beauty Tools Spongedry is a brilliant little device which holds your Foundation Blender whilst it dries, after cleaning and use. The product was designed by Chantal of Basic Beauty Tools, who was frustrated by the lack of tools available to care for the sponges that consumers sell to beauty lovers. She wanted to make a product that was nice to look at, appealing to all age groups and easy to take on your travels. This design has certainly achieved all that!
Basic Beauty Tools also have their own range of Foundation Blenders which have a unique design – they are teardrop shaped with a flat edge. This design makes it brilliant for getting into hard to reach areas like under the eyes and around the nose. The sponge is made from materials which make it quick-drying, but also strong and more durable than other sponges already on the market.
I can honestly say (and you know I’ll always give my honest opinion on products), that this is the best beauty sponge I’ve ever used. I’ve tried the original Beauty Blender, Spectrum’s Unicorn Tears along with others from Primark, etc and this one beats them hands down. The sponge is so incredibly soft, it hardly absorbs any of the product – spreading it evenly over your skin. I also use it to set my under-eye concealer with powder and it distributes this amazingly well too.
In the photo below, I have wet the purple sponge ready for use and placed it next to a dry version. It expands so much!
The innovative Spongedry itself is very easy to use. The packaging provides simple step-by-step instructions for use. You simply just press the little feet to get the rings into position and your sponge will sit safely inside.
Tucked inside the packaging is also a cute little travel pouch, so your Spongedry can go wherever you go!
Every now and then, you get a gem of a product launched into the world of beauty and this is definitely one of them. The Spongedry looks so cute in my beauty area and I love that I can clean my sponge and know that it will be dry quickly without worrying it will roll off somewhere and never return (I’ve lost many sponges this way!).
The Foundation Blender itself is just fantastic – I’ll never use anything else now. I also have a special discount code so that you can get one for yourself FREE if you buy a Spongedry. To claim, just add your code in the ‘add note to seller’ box at checkout.
As you’ll probably know by now, I’ve recently got into Korean beauty. This was thanks to my friends at Beaut East Sphere and awesome websites like YesStyle.com (you can read about my haul here). Every now and then something catches my eye on the Wish app and I just have to give it a go – for the sake of the blog of course! I was drawn to this YiLiANGA BB Cream because I have seen other BB creams from Korea which give the wearer enviable dewy skin, with light, airy coverage (I also ADORE the packaging!).
I ordered the product in the shade 1 – Light. This was too light for my skin tone to be honest and I looked like the walking dead when I put it on (pictures coming your way!). It comes in a very pretty lilac pink pot with a lid. The product is solid inside and it comes with a puff for application. I can’t stand a puff, so I used my brush one day and my beauty sponge another day.
The product was much more high coverage than I expected. I always imagine BB Creams to be light on the skin and for some imperfections to still show through. Once the product is broken down onto a brush/blender, it does move around on the skin quite easily.
To test the product I decided to prime my face beforehand. I then wet my beauty blender with my fixing spray and applied the BB Cream onto my face by dabbing with my sponge. It went on easily enough, but was quite patchy in places – for example around my nose. It also clung to any dry patches on my skin – so attractive.
In the photo below, I have applied the product to half my face. as you can see, the coverage is pretty full on and has covered up my redness well.
I applied the cream to the rest of my face and carried out my makeup routine as normal – setting my face with a powder, bronzing, adding blush and highlighting. I then sprayed with my setting spray. To be honest, before I’d even added the blusher, the BB cream was starting to separate on my skin in front of my eyes, especially on my nose. It felt incredibly drying too. I know that with a BB Cream you wouldn’t normally add all the extra product over the top, but I really don’t see this product as a cream, it is definitely more of a foundation.
Here’s a close-up of my skin after I finished my whole face –
As you can see, it made my skin look very dry and had a kind of ‘mottled’ look about it. It just felt incredibly uncomfortable on my skin. I didn’t take it off however, as I wanted to see how it lasted on my skin throughout the day.
It is now 7.45pm and I got home from a very sweaty run about half an hour ago. Looking in the mirror, the makeup really hasn’t moved at all. The texture still looks horrible, but the coverage is still there and you wouldn’t know that I’d been close to death only 30 minutes ago. It actually looks exactly the same as it did this morning when I applied it (photo above).
I think this product cost me around £3-4 and I will be using it again. I actually want to try it on a Summer’s day, with no other makeup on top. I also want to wait until my skin is feeling moisturised again, because at the moment it is dehydrated. We’ll see what the future holds for YiLiANGA Anti-Freckle Essence BB cream…
For now, it does look beautiful on display in my beauty area!
Here it is! The third installment on my series of reviews, swatches and tutorials on the Belle’s Beauty and Glitz Cosmetics eyeshadow palettes. This one is the 35F – a palette containing 35 beautiful and versatile shades. There are seven highly pigmented matte shades and 28 shimmer shades.
This palette is right up my street as it contains orange-toned, warm and Autumnal themed tones which are my go-to colours. I find these colours really make my blue eyes pop and are just stunning to work with and create beautiful looks.
I randomly swatched some of my stand-out shimmer shades below –
Here are six of the seven matte tones (I couldn’t swatch the first colour as it is a perfect match for my skin tone and wasn’t showing up on camera!) –
As usual, I had a go at creating a simple, but statement eye look with this palette. I added eyeliner this time (something I’m terrified to do!) but you can recreate this look without it.
I used one of the lightest matte orange shades in my crease
2. I then deepened the outer crease colour with the next matte orange shade along in the palette
3. I used a pink, shimmer shade all over my lid and blended up to the crease. This pink shade is gorgeous! It has a peachy/gold duochrome shimmer to it which, when it catches the light, is blinding!
4. I deepened the outer V colour with a purple shade from the far left column of the palette and also ran this along my lower lashline
5. Finally, I attempted eyeliner – sorry I’m no good at applying this!
Once again, Belle’s Beauty and Glitz Cosmetics haven’t failed to impress me with yet another beautiful palette. The colours and pigmentation are just brilliant. The quality and range of colours present endless looks and they send my creative mind into overdrive!

I received some money for my birthday last month, so decided to put in my first order with YesStyle.com. I had been doing my research on Korean beauty products by watching some YouTube reviews – especially those by Shaaanxo – and had some products in mind for purchase. YesStyle provide Asian products ranging from fashion, lifestyle, and beauty and ship them worldwide. I focussed all of my attention on the beauty section of the site (of course!) and here’s what I bought –
I have previously written a post about Etude House (when I really had no clue about Korean beauty!) and their peel off eyebrow tint – which I really loved. I was excited to give these eye patches by the same brand a go. I have noticed a lot of creasing under my eyes recently and as well as being old age, I also put it down to dehydration. I wasn’t drinking enough water and found it to be affecting my skin. I wanted to give these a go to see if they could rehydrate the area under my eyes and make me feel bright and fresh again (and not old).
My under eye area felt much more plump after use and the creasing was a lot less apparent for a few days. I have been drinking a lot more water now to try and keep the effect that the eye patches left going for a bit longer.
The Secret Key Snow White Cream has a pearl and vitamin formula which helps to brighten up the complexion on the face. It isn’t moisturising enough on its own, so I’ve been using it over my usual daily moisturiser. It actually acts as a brilliant primer too! I do have some redness on my cheeks and have found that this cream does reduce the redness slightly. It doesn’t wow me, but it does feel nice on the skin. I have also worn it alone on no-foundation days.
Ahhhh this product was so disappointing! I really wanted a bright shade to go in my waterline as it opens up your eyes and makes them look generally brighter and more awake. I also loved the packaging for this liner with the punk looking Snow White on the lid.
It swatches beautifully and I loved the colour – Glimmer Coral. However, when I try to apply this to my waterline or over my eyelid, nothing comes out! The formulation seems to be so waterproof that it won’t release any product unless you press very hard – something I’m definitely not going to do on my eye area. Am I doing something wrong? Please let me know if I am, or any other tips would be much appreciated!
Tony Moly is an extremely popular Korean beauty brand and I just love the products! The packaging on many of the items is adorable (just you wait for my final item!) and the prices are pretty good too. They are also cruelty free – a lovely bonus. This is a teeny tiny mascara, perfect for your bottom eyelashes and for getting right to the root of your top lashes. It does what it says on the tin (or box in this case).
Ever since meeting my friends at Beaut East Sphere and trying out their Polatam sheet masks for the first time, I’ve been hooked! Sheet masks are just amazing, easy to use and so nourishing on the skin. I always apply them before bed and my skin is glowing by the morning. This one from Tony Moly was no exception – my skin felt amazing after use and was sparkling for days. It was super hydrating too.
I love Rilakkuma! He is a little bear created by the Japanese company San-X. I saw this solo eyeshadow in such a gorgeous, crease perfect shade and just had to snap it up. I really like the fact that he is also pressed into the powder too, although this does make me sad to use it!
OK, those of you who are close to me will know of my extremely geeky obsession with Pokemon. I have always loved them and have a very large collection of trading cards. I’m not ashamed to admit it! When I saw that Tony Moly have a whole range of Pokemon beauty items, I was very excited. I chose the Pikachu cushion BB cream, as Pikachu has to be my favourite.
This foundation comes in an amazing compact, with a mirror in the lid. The first section holds a little pad for application which is decorated like a Pokeball – how cute is that?
Under the next flap is the cushion itself, which holds the product. I’ve heard brilliant things about cushion foundations – you only use the amount of product you need, so nothing gets wasted. It is also very buildable. This BB cream/foundation is light coverage, but is also buildable. It gives the skin a lovely, glowy finish and is going to be perfect in the summer when I want something less cakey. I’m thinking of doing a separate review of this – let me know what you think.
Overall, I’m pretty pleased with my YesStyle haul. I did also purchase the cat ears headband by Etude House which you can find here. I got free delivery with my order which, once shipped, came very quickly. I also received a free gift which was a small bottle of O Hui Baby Collagen Softening Milk – another lovely skin treatment. A couple of products didn’t blow me away unfortunately, like the eyeliner. I’m hoping I can find another use for that one.
Well that concludes my Korean Haul! I hope you enjoyed it. Have you purchased any Korean products recently?
