A Christmas Night in with Lolita Glasses and Friends | Vlog and Exclusive Discount Code

I love Christmas – the weather, the glittery makeup, the time with friends and family and the having time to relax and be merry. Now that I have Baby J in my life, Christmas is even more exciting. This year I want it to be as magical as possible. So when I was sent these glasses decorated with Christmas designs from Lolita, I knew they would make the perfect accessories to my perfect Christmas plan.

Left – I’ll be Home, Right – Holiday Beauty

Lolita Glasses began with Lolita herself when she was served a Cosmopolitan cocktail on a night out with friends. After looking at the drink’s menu and receiving her drink, Lolita began to think about how a regular glass could be dressed up to suit the exciting drink it contained. Lolita started to collate her ideas for Martini glasses in 2001 and from there on the company was born.

These glasses aren’t just your ordinary drinking glasses – they are beautifully and intricately designed, hand-painted and embellished with jewels. They are the centrepiece of any party and girl’s night in and the talking point too!

The Lolita UK website has a wide selection of glasses for all occasions. I was sent some Christmas glasses, but also some which would be perfect for New Year. The little details in these glasses are just beautiful, I can’t get over the way the colours complement each other so perfectly and beautifully. The jewels are a gorgeous finishing touch too! Each glass has a unique cocktail recipe written on the bottom of it too – imagine the fun you can have making them!

Left – Pretty and a Peacock, Right – Mardi Gras

To put the glasses to the test, I invited some friends over and we made the cocktails recipe on the bottom of the Pretty as a Peacock glass. We had so much fun together and it made it clear that nights in are as much, if not more fun than a big night out! I even managed to vlog the evening – enjoy!

Makeup Revolution Soph X 24 Eyeshadow Palette | Review and Swatches

When I saw SophDoesNails announce her collab with Makeup Revolution, I was super excited! I loved the look of the eyeshadow palette especially after she went through each shade and her reasons behind each shade name (watch it here).

It is immediately apparent that this is a very versatile palette and I began planning many different looks using it in my head. When it was released on Wednesday at 10:30am, I was poised over the buy button! The palette arrived this morning and I just can’t stop looking at it, I mean just look at the picture below and tell me it’s not beautiful!

The palette arrived in a gorgeous pastel pink box, designed by Soph herself. She actually painted the watercolour design which covers the whole box herself. It also has a few paint splats in rose gold over it and Soph’s signature in rose gold too. The palette itself is a very cool matte nude with the rose gold writing on it once again. I absolutely love the packaging to be honest, it is right up my street and just looks so chic.

Now for the swatches!

The top two rows in natural light
The bottom two rows in natural light

So, I can honestly say I really like every colour in the palette. The neutrals are gorgeous and will look amazing as transition and crease shades. The matte shades didn’t swatch as well as the shimmers did and took two dips into the palette. The bonus thing about this is that you can gradually build colour instead of putting too much on at the first brush stroke. Every single shimmer shade is super pigmented and very pretty. I’m very impressed with the quality considering this palette was only £10 for 24 eyeshadows.

I had a go at creating a look using my stand out shades today, and here’s what I did –

  • Pancakes – all over the lid
  • Tiramisu – in the crease
  • Pumpkin – on the outer crease
  • I then created a cut crease base using concealer
  • Sparks Fly – over the cut crease base on the inner corner
  • Grow Old – over the cut crease base on the centre of the lid
  • Danger – on the outer corner and lower lash line
  • Fairy Lights – as an inner corner highlight

The colours were extremely easy to work with – blendable with some fallout but nothing major.

Overall, I’m super excited by this palette and can see it becoming a firm favourite and go-to palette for everyday use as well as special occasions. A big congratulations to Soph – so great to see beauty gurus and YouTubers doing so well!

Bourjois Rouge Velvet The Lipstick Collection | Review and Swatches

When I received a box of twelve Bourjois Rouge Velvet The Lipsticks, complimentary of Bourjois and Influenster, I couldn’t have been more excited to try them all out! Every single shade appealed to me and I just didn’t know where to begin!

The packaging for these lipsticks is simple but elegant and they have a very secure closing lid which clicks loudly so you can guarantee it won’t come off on your travels and in your bag.

The Rouge Velvet lipsticks have a matte finish – but the thing I love about them is that they go on in a creamy, almost typical lipstick formula and then dry down to a matte finish. It’s like magic!

After trying the lipsticks for a few days now, I can say that they are non-drying and very comfortable to wear. They last for a few hours but the real test is when you eat. I wouldn’t say that they last very well through a meal, only a small amount of colour remains.

My favourite shade is ‘Brunette’, the darkest of the collection. Watch the video below for swatches and names of all the lipsticks.

I was MUA to Kitty Clements this week, on a shoot with the amazing Oliver Lall and I used one of these on her. We went for the shade ‘Fuchsia Botte’ as Oliver wanted a blue and pink theme (more about this in a separate post soon!). The colour looked fab and here’s a sneak peek from the shoot…

xoBeauty Matte Lipstick in Philocaly

When I watched Shaaanxo’s new makeup line announcement video last week, I was so excited by the beautiful colours and quality of both her liquid and regular lipsticks. I was especially excited by the matte lipstick in the shade ‘Philocaly‘ and settled on just this one. It arrived today – just a week after it was posted from New Zealand!

Shaaanxo is by far my favourite YouTube Beauty Guru. I first discovered her when scouring the web for a wedding makeup tutorial. I actually used her one for my own wedding makeup (yes I was brave enough and mad enough to do my own makeup!). She always manages to achieve pure magic with any eyeshadow and her makeup tips are useful and achievable.  I was extremely excited to see that she’d actually signed the card that came with the lipstick too – I had a extreme fan-girl moment when I saw it!

The lipstick came packaged in a cute white box with grey polka dots on it. Inside, the tube of the lipstick has a chrome/mirror effect which is just so classy and pretty. The lid clicks into place over the lipstick, so there’s no need to worry about it coming off in your handbag.

I did a swatch of the lipstick on my arm first and it swatched beautifully. It has a very creamy texture which glides onto the skin. The colour looks even more beautiful in real life and I think I picked well for my skin tone. It is a stunning pinky nude – my fave!

Swatch – xoBeauty Matte Lipstick in Philocaly

When I put it onto my lips, I was first impressed by the gorgeous smell of crème brûlée – don’t worry if you don’t like strong smells in your makeup, this is a beautifully subtle scent. The lipstick went smoothly onto my lips and didn’t cling to patches as matte lipsticks have a habit of doing. It feels very nourishing on the lips too. I’ve had it on all day and my skin doesn’t feel dried out at all. It also really stayed put! There was very little transfer when kissing Baby J and the hubby and it stayed on very well during meals.

Overall, I’m very happy with this lipstick. I’m so pleased that it has been lovingly designed and created by a brilliant YouTuber, who has worked hard to get to this stage. You could tell from her announcement video how much this collection really meant to her. Philocaly also really reminds me of MAC’s Brave in colour – but I actually prefer this formula! It has better staying power and is much easier to apply.

Norwich Fashion Week 2017 – The Dipple & Conway Hair and Makeup Show

This has got to be, by far, my best blogging experience to date and I just had to share it with you. On Friday 10th March, I went to the Dipple & Conway Hair and Makeup Show for Norwich Fashion Week 2017.  I was given a VIP ticket by the event organisers and felt so grateful to be gifted such a wonderful opportunity.

When I arrived, I went to the VIP area and met the lovely Charlotte of Simply Lottie – another Norwich blogger. The show was due to start at 8pm, so we were able to chat all things blogging for a little while!

The show itself took place in Open – a beautiful venue with ornate ceilings and a large open space with an overlooking balcony. I already knew when I took my seat, that this was going to be a great show.

The show was split into four segments – Shakespeare, Burlesque, Contemporary and Sci-Fi. Salons, MUAs and colleges were there showcasing their work on beautiful models from Sandra Reynolds. The costumes were provided by The Maddermarket Theatre and were stunning.

Set 1

This segment opened the show with a beautiful operatic performance by Emma Nuule – who also looked amazing in her of the time period costume.

I was very excited for this part of the show because I love all things Shakespeare. The models were dressed as various Shakespearean characters and their hair and makeup beautifully reflected their character’s personality. Such a brilliant opening section!

Those showcasing their work were –

Millie Rose

Lowestoft College

Paintopia (More about them later!)

The models for this segment were admirable. I was blown away by their confidence and stage presence. They rocked the burlesque look and once again the hair and makeup was bang-on theme. Such a cool and empowering part of the show!

Those showcasing their work were –

The Cottage

Kerri Anema

Set 2

Full of fast paced music and bright colours this was an exciting start to set 2! I loved the theme here and how each salon and MUA interpreted it.

Those showcasing their work were –

Lanoi and Nutch

Glam R

Another set I got over excited about! I’m a huge geeky sci-fi fan and couldn’t wait to see the theme interpreted. I wasn’t disappointed!

Those showcasing their work were –

Salon 66

The Norwich School of Beauty

Paintopia – a special shout out to these guys! Their work actually gave me goosebumps. They are a group of body paint artists whose skills are off the scale. I’ve never seen anything like it – the artwork was incredible and the way the models presented themselves and their characters was incredible. As usual, I struggle to put down in words how amazing they are, so here are some photos instead!

What a show! I will definitely be going back next year and hopefully to see more shows. I’ve been looking at photos on Twitter and Instagram of the other events and they look just as brilliant. I feel very blessed to have been part of such an awesome experience and am so happy it took place in lovely Norwich.

I have also put together a little video of all the photos and some video footage I took of the night – take a look and please give it a like. Thank you!

Bio Extracts @Home Lab

I have had these products for little over a week now and I have been so excited to share them with you! My husband and I have been trying them out and are so pleased with the results they produce. These products aren’t just another bunch of face creams, they are vegan, cruelty free and just so much fun to use!

Here’s a demonstration video I created –

This is a skincare range which adapts to your needs. You decide what you put on your face, depending on your environment or mood. Maybe you’ve had a bad night’s sleep? Or your skin is feeling dry and tired? Or maybe you’re just looking for a little pick-me-up glow? Well there is a Bio Extract Booster to suit your every skincare need!

The Bio-Extracts Moisturisers

There are three moisturisers to choose from – Light, Normal and Rich. They contain the Bio-Extracts Lamellar System which is a system of natural ‘liquid crystals’ made to mimic the structure of your skin. It acts as a kind of ‘patch’ on the skin creating a barrier and preventing trans-epidermal water loss. As soon as the moisturiser touches the skin, it locks in hydration.

About the Creams

  • Light – For oily, problematic and combination skin and the hotter summer months. It is ultra-light and mattifying and contains natural rice-derived micro-particles.
  • Normal – For both day and night. This moisturiser is ultra-mild with pure Argan Oil. It is non-greasy and quickly absorbed into the skin.
  • Rich – For dry, very dry and mature skin and through the colder winter months. It contains Cupuacu Butter produced from seeds sourced from the Amazonian tree.

The Bio-Extracts Boosters

Described as ‘super-charged luxurious serums that deliver active plant molecules at exceptionally high concentrations’ these products are amazing! I have really enjoyed picking which boost I will mix with the moisturiser each day, depending on my needs or mood. Today I went for Lifting Boost AND Glow Boost with the Normal moisturiser.

There are boosts for age renewal, hydration, glow, skin problems such as enlarged pores and acne, and redness relief.

You can buy the Bio-Extracts @Home Lab range here and this link includes a £15 off Friend Code too – bonus!

Beauty Product Review – e.l.f Day to Night Lipstick Duo in Graphic Minimalist

This new lipstick duo is just fabulous! I love the whole concept of one neutral colour for the day time and a bolder colour for the night – all in one product! I purchased the shade ‘Graphic Minimalist’ which was designed by a pair of my favourite YouTubers Tracy and Stef of EleventhGorgeous.

I especially love this daytime shade as I’m really enjoying the nude colours for lips at the moment.

The night time shade will be perfect for my first wedding anniversary celebrations this weekend. Win!

You can purchase the lipstick duo on the e.l.f website here.

Do you own any e.l.f products? What would you recommend?
